I know. It's just a question came to mind discovering this patch. Okay, I should ask elsewhere.

Hmm, for comfort reasons, it would also be nice to have a patch that automatically always enables F5 continue...

And if you really are on a roll: a better save option Smile

For Konami games Game Master 2 would sound more logical but FM PAC or SRAM in Turbo R is also nice.

I have a GM2, but I don't have a working floppy drive Tongue And to use Nowind too, I need 3 cart slots... I guess I'll also need a slotexpander then... I should try that some time.

Updated information for all 4 checks.

1. ROM offset 54F0h (94F0h - actual address during the game)

TEXT messages in DEMETER, ARES room, also YES/NO in English or Japanese.

---
2. ROM offset 58F5h (98F5h - actual address during the game)

"ENTER SECRET CODE" message

---
3. ROM offset 5917h (9917h - actual address during the game)

This code executed when you press [ENTER] after entring the SECRET CODE and
your code is wrong. You will receive message about wrong code and can continue
entering the code until you get it right.

---
4. ROM offset 592Eh (992Eh - actual address during the game)

This code executed when you press [ENTER] after entering the SECRET CODE and
your code is correct. You will receive message that your code is correct
and you should continue to find & defeat Galious. After that game will continue
from where you saved.

PS: @ Manual: I sent you an email...

Humm. I think this could be filled as a bug report (or feature request, depending on the POV) for both SofaRun and OPFX/OPFXSD. Since some games check for the keyboard layout, they could have an option to change that check too and not only the character set.

There might be other games that check for the BASIC version (0=Japanese, 1=International) too.

I would suggest not to force both the character set and keyboard type in the same option, since some games might try to use the keyboard type ID for its originally intended purpose too: remap the keys accordingly.

Is someone able to create such an IPS patch? My son is still practicing the game a lot and he keeps forgetting to enter the ZEUS password.

OK, I took the openMSX debugger to find out myself... the flag which indicates that ZEUS was entered is stored in 0xE027. It's 1 if ZEUS was entered and 0 otherwise.

The code checks on 2 places whether this flag is set. By inverting the condition it will show F5 CONTINUE when the flag is NOT set. For that change C4 to CC at offset 0x593 and C8 to C0 at offset 0x3E95.

The two places are probably (not checked): 1. to check whether to print the text on the screen F5 CONTINUE and 2. to check whether to check whether F5 is pressed during the game over screen.

For those who are interested, I also have an IPS patch.
