Hello Community,

Here comes a new tool to work with Rom Collections for Carnivore2!

It is a GUI application for Windows that lets users to create and manage larger collections of roms that are compatible with C2BACKUP utility and could be uploaded "in bulk" as one file to Carnivore2 cartridge.
It is also easy to test a prepared collection using OpenMSX before trying to upload to a real device.

This is an initial, but fully functional version. Please report any bugs or improvement suggestions.

And to add something to the post above, here comes an example screenshot of the app.

Thanks goes to Wierzbowsky [RBSC] and Pencioner [RBSC] for invaluable help during the development of this app.

What are the features? Is this an improved version of C2BACKUP?

The idea is pretty simple. This app is a Windows GUI app, that lets users create "collection files" that are actually Carnivore-2 compatible backup files (they normally have .FRB extension). User can add up to 254 rom files to such a collection - limited by Carnivore-2 directory space or up to a bit less than 8 Mb in total size.
When the file is ready it can be tested in OpenMSX or copied over to some MSX storage so C2BACKUP.COM can be used to upload it into Carnivore2. This way a user can spend a few minutes to upload a large number of prepared ROMs and play them as desired.
So instead of manually uploading one by one on MSX, it is possible to pack all needed ROMs together into a collection and upload them as just one file.
Then it is possible to have multiple collections just as user wants to see them.

Nice tool, will give it a spin. Does it allow editing menu entry names (so you could e.g. change PENGUIN into Penguin Adventure) and re-ordering the list (could be a manual step as well as sorting by name)?

Yes, it does. You can use F2 when selecting an entry in the list on the right. Or use context popup / Rename.

This will be implemented next, soon. Wink
