I've never heard of a European ROM version of Antarctic Adventure. I claim it doesn't exist. The screenshot comes from the Game Collection 1 version, where they changed some things. And that collection was for the Japanese market and still they changed it. So I wouldn't dare to call that a European version either. However, I'm happy to be proved wrong Smile

I'm puzzled why GoodMSX1 doesn't have separate ROM dumps for these different versions of Game Master.

tosec has both the Japanese and European ROM of Game Master. And the same for Antarctic Adventure, but as pointed out, there is a good chance of that being the ripped ROM from the Konami Game Collection...

I updated the genmsx screenshots saying the newer version is from the Konami Game Collection, and also added the following description on the information tab:

The cartridge version (Japanese or European) is slightly different from the version shipped on the Konami Games Collection 1 disk. The later has various small changes, amongst others:
- Optional support for SCC+ sound cartridge
- Blue Konami splash screen (instead of black)
- Fixed "KEYBOARD" spelling mistake on title screen
- Konami logo uses a different font
- Map of south pole is in English
- You start at a different point on the map (first region is the USA instead of Australia)

The NES version of the game has a propeller cap you can get by collecting a flashing flag (allows a longer jump). I have not noticed this in the MSX or Colecovision version.

The NES and Colecovision version both start with Australia. The NES version has the map in Japanese (was only released for the FC in Japan), and the Colecovision version has the map in English.

I have both Japanese and European versions. Both have the "S.POLE" text.

And I assume these are the original cartridges, and not downloaded ROMs? If so, I assume you have the second Japanese released version, not the "I Love..." one?

Of course.

Ok... In that case I need to make some changes to the text on GenMSX again :-) I will assume that what was classified as the Japanese ROM was in fact the 1st version released in Japan (the "I love..." version). And that the second released version in Japan and the European version are the same revised version. Of course I don't really know if things are that clean cut. Konami could have shipped some old ROMs in newer packaging...

Here is the new text:

The original version released in Japan (under the "I Love..." label) is slightly different from later versions released in Japan and Europe. Changes include:
- Blue Konami splash screen (instead of black)
- Fixed "KEYBOARD" spelling mistake on title screen
- Konami logo uses a different font
- Map of south pole is in English
- You start at a different point on the map (first region is the USA instead of Australia)

The version released as part of the Konami Games Collection 1 has further been enhanced with optional support for a SCC+ Sound Cartridge.

I think the text is still not ok. As far as I know the European version had the spelling mistake as well.
