"KEYBOARD" is not missespelled. I made a video with the different versions (1st japanese, 2nd Japanese and European) so you can check the differences.
I added a trick to reach the end of the stage faster. Also incremented the speed.
The european version has no demo play. Also "New Zealand" was removed from European and "2nd" Japanese version.

Thanks Guillian,

btw, how did you do the trick to get to the end of the levels that quick?

In any case, here are the differences that I got from it...

1st Japanese cartridge version
- Black Konami splash screen
- Spelling mistake on title screen (KEYBOABD)
- Map of Antarctica with Japanese writing (南極点)
- Region order: AUSTRALIA, AUSTRALIA, FRANCE, NEW ZEALAND, 南極点, USA, USA, ARGENTINA, UNITED KINGDOM, JAPAN, AUSTRALIA

2nd Japanese cartridge version
- Blue Konami splash screen
- Konami logo uses standard system font
- Map of Antarctica with English writing (S.POLE)
- Region order: USA, THE SOUTH POLE, USA, USA, ARGENTINA, UNITED KINGDOM, JAPAN, AUSTRALIA, AUSTRALIA, FRANCE

European cartridge version
- Black Konami splash screen
- No Demo mode
- Map of Antarctica with English writing (S.POLE)
- Region order: USA, THE SOUTH POLE, USA, USA, ARGENTINA, UNITED KINGDOM, JAPAN, AUSTRALIA, AUSTRALIA, FRANCE

Konami Game Collection 1 disk version
- Based on the 2nd Japanese cartridge version
- No Konami splash screen
- Optional support for SCC+ sound cartridge

btw.. to me it feels like the version order is:
- 1st Japanese cartridge version -> European cartridge version -> 2nd Japanese cartridge version -> Game Collection version

The reason for this is that the 1st Japanese and the European versions both have the black splash screen and the Konami logo with the custom font.

The Antarctic Adventure differences have always intrigued me. So I love this thread, thanks for all your work! Oh, and the thread title only makes it even better ^_^

Can someone make sure all these versions are dumped? GoodMSX1 only has 1 version...

tosec only misses the European version. It however has a version that is titled "European", but it is actually the second Japanese version. The version in tosec titled Japanese is the 1st Japanese version.

I don't really trust tosec, I'd rather see fresh dumps from a reliable source.

Something is not right here. The blue Konami screens with a line and SOFTWARE written underneath were only published in 1985. I think King's Valley was the first one to get that new screen. Antarctic Adventure was released in December 1983!

Not sure what your trying to say. Both the 1st Japanese version and the European version have the black Konami splash screen. Only the 2nd Japanese release has the Blue Konami splash screen and that was obviously released later. They did not update the (c) on the title screen, that says 1984, even for the version on the Konami Game Collection with the SCC+ support added.
