Except the patch for Metal Gear 2, I am the only one to have made a few patches for MEGAMU.

Would be nice to have the newest English version of 'Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake' on DISK...

The latest translation I'm aware of is working with SofaROM, including saving on disk (I'm using the version with the FRS Metal Gear 2 patch). Has something new been released recently?

Mega16 requires patches because its "wide" method replace mapper addresses for all 16kB mapper types at same time. So it sometimes replaces data that should not be replaced.

That does not happen (at least the games are launching) in SofaROM because NYYRIKKI's A.I. code is detecting that.

Maybe SofaRom needs an option to specify the offset address where the mapper addresses should not be replaced.

Yes, but I'd prefer the "patch files" approach for that (the patches could be applied after SofaROM patching process). Adding several hex addresses in the command line is not very user-friendly.

It would be nice if it's a plain text file and if you make a software that can create this text file by comparing an original Rom with the patched Rom.
It would also be nice to be able to group the patches in a specific folder (e.g. /patches) created in the Roms folder.
(I'm just trying to give ideas.)

That's exactly what I had in mind Smile: text files that can be easily edited with real offsets in ROM file (no "per-page" addresses) and that do not need to be compiled or anything. They could also contain options (mapper type, interruption mode, etc...). The "patches" subfolder is also a good option (as SofaROM does not work on MSX-DOS 1 anyway...)

A SofaROM bug report, related to the SofaRun bug report I just posted: SofaROM cannot execute the digital version of Rune Monster either; it hangs on launch. I tried a couple different AI options without success. I tried this on an ST with 256kB of RAM (a bit of a stretch for a 2MB ROM, but I was curious to see what would happen) and also on a Zemmix NEO with 4MB of RAM.

Hi, I'm trying to run roms with SCC sound chip using padial v7 and megaflash scc (no SD version) + on vg8235 and hb75p

But I can not activate the SCC sound, if I tell you to find external chip, can not find it, if I use opfx in the normal way everything perfect, what checks can I perform?

thanks!

(sorry i use google translator)

Hi Dreamerm42,

Which game are you trying to start? The game starts but you have no SCC sound?

The "External SCC" looks for an SCC cartridge outside of the MegaFlashROMSCC, it's not useful if you use MegaFlashROMSCC.

I try, nemesis 2, nemesis 3, f1 spirit, in all cases I can only sound PSG. But when I flash with opfx everything works fine. I think as soon as I can record video for you to see... :-)

Ah OK. It works here on openMSX, but there must be something missing to activate SCC sounds on real hardware. I will check that and send you a version to test!

Ok, Dreamerm42, here's a modified SROM.COM for you to test: SROM.zip. Just put it in the SofaRun directory instead of the previous one. Let me know if that works (or not)!
