Hi, I have installed sofarun on my megaflash rom ds + 512, made a multi dsk from sd snacher, but it runs without the scc sound, do I have to change something in settings? I have searched on google i can't find anything. greatings Andre.
Hi Andre,
First basics questions:
- What SCC or SCC+ cartridge have you plugged in your MSX?
- Which version of SD Snatcher are you using (the cracked one, which has a menu allowing you to select the SCC slot, and SCC/SCC+ Mode, or the original one ?).
Also, I do not know if you've heard about that, but there's an amazing translation of SD Snatcher (project Melancholia), which also offers a selection menu at start. If you're planning to play or replay SD Snatcher, that's really a "must have".
Hello, Louthrax
thanxs for reacting on my post.
I have a megaflashrom scc+ sd 512 and a cracked version of sd snatcher, on physical disk i can use f1 spirit as scc. But i want to use sofarun to load the multi dsk(same cracked version put to getter as a multidsk. On a sd cart) and use the scc from the megaflash rom, so i don't have to put f1 spirit in to my msx after starting up the msx, like the old days, and the risk of damaging the cartridge or the msx.
I've seen on youtube thats possible, only i don't know how. I only get the psg sound.
wiht kind regards, andre
Ah, ok. That should not be too difficult to solve.
First, try to launch an SCC ROM with SofaRun. The slot of the MFR SCC should be displayed before the game starts.
Then, you'll just have to specify that same slot in the cracked-version launch screen.
It could be that the MFR SCC slot is in a sub-slot (2-1 for example), and that the cracked version you have only allows main slots, which could be a problem.
The Project Melancholia translation allows you to specify which slot and mode (SCC or SCC+) to use.
Ok thanx, I will look into that.
Hi, I installed SofaRun yesterday and got it working with a PAL Philips NMS 8245 and Megaflashrom SCC+. I merged Aleste 2 disk images to one image and got it working with Sofarun. But a strange problem:
When I insert the Megaflashrom to an unmodified Japanese Panasonic a1-st wx the Aleste 2 disk won't run. All I get is a black screen. My Philips machine has issues so it would be nice to get this working with WX.
Does Sofarun store some computer spesific settings that might interfere? I already tried deleting settings folder but no help.
Also, I had a faulty 360 Kb Aleste 1 disk image. I changed that to 720 Kb image that work in emulator but for some reason Sofarun still lists the 360 Kb image as disk one, altough I already deleted it.
Maybe these are noob questions but I've Googled for hours. Hope someone has some idea what's going on
You could try setting the disk read speed lower.
Hi Sunn, and welcome here.

SofaRun does not store machine-specifc things in the settings. It only remembers the last flashed ROM in order to avoid re-flashing it unnecessarily, but that's for ROM images and flash devices only.
You can find a patch for Aleste 2 on my website in the "Game patches" section, related to the RAM slot. There's a good chance this will fix your problem.

SofaRun does not handle disk images that have a contradiction between the disk image header information (F8 for single sided, F9 for double-sided), and the disk image size (360kb or 720kb).
You can try to fix that, or just use your original 360KB disk image, or simply launch the ROM image as you have a MFR SCC+ (I'd go for this ).
i also got the some problem with merging aleste 2 disk images,i am a bit confused how to change disks and after mergeing,it reports i merged 5 images total...am i using a incorrect method by using windows's cmd?
no, I did it using the windows cmd and Aleste2 works fine, but you could also try on MSX DOS2
https://www.faq.msxnet.org/suffix.html
On windows cmd: COPY /B DISK1.DSK+DISK2.DSK MULTI.DSK
on MSX DOS2: concat /b disk1.dsk+disk2.dsk multi.dsk
On swapping disk, https://www.louthrax.net/mgr/sofarunit_usage.html
Do both disk images work individually?
