Hack of TriloTracker, designed to support FM-PAC instead of SCC.
2 channels PSG + 6 channels FM + 3 channels FM drums.

Both song and tracker are beta versions.

Great! Is it expected to join FM+SCC+PSG in the same tracker? I hope so Smile

The replayer would become too heavvy for real games

To me, as a musician, that is not a problem, because

a) Sometimes it's just all about the music (accompanied by a simple demo or replayer)
b) There is a nice little thing called R800 that opens a whole world of new possibilities
c) For a game or more challenging demo, a composer can take certain limitations in mind (e.g. amount of notes played at the same time, certain effects that can or can not be used, amount of notes per interrupt etc.). IIRC (it's been 10 years) this approach was used in Guru Logic/GuyveR5.

Furthermore, I vividly remember the demos for SME 3.0 - that played (IIRC) a combination of PSG, FM, up to 5xSCC and 2x MSX-Audio. Also there are quite a few productions using MuSiCa (PSG + FM + SCC). If this all was possible, it should be possible with a TriloTracker based PSG/FM/SCC tracker too, right?

To me an ideal tracker would support PSG, FM, SCC and MSX-Audio. Not that I need or want to use all the available channels at the same time, but I certainly would like be able to mix and match.

I agree with snout 100%, but I do realise that developers would like to create tools which are usable for their other productions, so I'm not complaining about current and under-development trackers.

But I do hope someday someone will create a scc+psg+fmpac+musicmodule+tr-pcm+simple/covoxpcm+sccpcm/psgpcm/fmpacpcm etc tracker .. or, if nobody else has made one yet, ill do it myself once I get enough experience/knowledge in coding asm/msx (probably in 10 years or so Wink )

Limitation of the number of features shouldn't be a choice made by tool-developers but by tool-users. So what if tune xyz uses 90% cpu-time, during title screens all you do is waiting for the space bar. The user should discuss with their own coder (game, demo) how many events per int could be used in specific situations, or how much memory can be used. Note that I mentioned events, not channels. Once a channel is up and running you can put your cpu towards other channels. Here, tactical event-spreading is the key to success. I mean, you could create a 24-channel tune, but that doesn't mean that every interrupt 24 channels are updated!

Even if I'm not the main coder of the tracker, the answer is easy: Trilotracker will be open source, feel free to spin off your own version.

Agree, everyone should adapt the musics (channels) in relation to the CPU needs.

maybe the developer should count a bit, or not ?

Ofcourse Wink and seeing that trilotracker was mainly made for your own productions, I have no complaints about it not supporting soundchip xxx or yyy, Im already happy you guys are sharing this great piece of software with the world Wink
