In MSXDOS 1 you can do:
TYPE FILENAME.TXT

and in MSX basic (with disk basic) you can do:
COPY "FILENAME"TO"CON"

The problem with type is that you cannot stop listing by page, you have to use stop key each time and type in msx-dos1 does not supports "|more" parameter the same problem applies to copy con Sad

I look for a simple viewer like a nfo viewer, ted is too big and has functions I do not need because only want to show a TXT manual.

Thanks anyway to both of you Edoz and Metiz for trying it Smile

The 11K sized Symbos version?
So funny that the Windows version is 189K. You'd wonder what extras are in these 178K Big smile

Thanks a lot Jipe, you saved my day!

Sadly the viewer sent by Jope is for msx-dos2 and does not works on msx-dos1 Crying

So the only solution I found is splitting the "big" txt file in multiple files one per screen and wait for user response, in this way:

Pressing right cursor key loads next file if you press left cursor to load previous file and showing the contents of the loaded file it on screen fortunately Edoz solution is compatible with msx1 so I can use it in a "creative way".

For example:

BIG-FILE.TXT (contains 10 pages)

I split the big file in 10 little files:

big-001.txt
big-002.txt
.
.
.
.
big-010.txt

COPY "big-0XX" TO "CON"

and wait for user response after clearing the screen each time

I have to check if I can use:

copy "big-a$" to con using a$ as variable value inside a for next loop to avoid making manually 20 lines Tongue and making a routine called each time copy is executed.

I hope this solution is useful for anyone who has this problem in the future.

........and thank you everyone who has tried to help me!
