I have 3 Undeadline's dumps. Apparently are the same, all the three works fine in turbo R. All of them for MSX2.
But CRC are different. Which one it´s the original dump? How can I know how they differ?

No R800 two disks version.
No Victor's patch version.
No Cheat version.

Also I would like to get a dump of the second disk (or where to find it) (Undeadline V.2):

I tried to contact by mail with ray2day but without success :(

About Undeadline V2 , I know that the rules of the mrc do not allow to share dumps. If anyone had it, I would appreciate it if someone sent it to me by mail. msxarea AT gmail DOT com

That second disk is not a regular second disk as stated in that thread. It is an auto demo. Judging from the v2 perhaps even 2 versions exist(ed).

The regular game allows to save high scores to a separate disk. Perhaps someone got it to save to the regular game by mistake (with some games you can).

It is not unheard of for games to have several original versions or fixes of those original version by the original developers.

How to know which is the correct version or lastest version:
- compare the files and check the differences and/ or even debug them
- play the game meticulously and check for known issues (or find out about them)

If there were a DSK database it would become apparent that this is much more common than you would think...

I've found that at least two versions of Undeadline can be downloaded over the net, one works in the FS-A1WX and the other doesn't. No idea of the reason, if it has some kind of patch or it's a bad dump...

Perhaps it would be useful to make a dsk db with sha1 codes stating known issues with that version (if known), seeing games had multiple releases, people could send in games with bugs which got subsequently fixed by some companies etc...

Database would be good. But important to remeber that even same release can have different SHA1 because of the copy protection. For example, most of the games have protection in sector 9 or 14/15. When reading the disk, you will need to ignore the errors while you creating disk image. But data inside of the copy protection sector may vary from read to read. The best way if you have different images of the same game is to use a compare tool to see where they are different. And if it is in the same area, it might be the same image. Also sometimes image different because of the disk errors on the disk and it also will result in different SHA1. I do have few rare games that I cannot read completely because of the errors, would be nice to know if somebody may have same games with errors in differemt spots to assemble the complete and fully working image.

I have more Undeadline's dumps but when I compare them with a hexa editor only some empty sectors are different for the most part. They contain 40h instead of E5h. Two or three versions have differences on the last track. It's probably the protective track that has been copied differently but I think that does not have any incidence.
