I've recently gotten hold of a Way Of The Tiger released by KIXX and I'm trying to archive it.
I've recorded the WAV but I'm just trying to convert it to CAS at the moment but neither WAV2CAS or Sofacas1.3 can create a good CAS file at all. I know the WAV works with openMSX so there's nothing wrong with that but I was wondering if anyone had any alternative ways to convert it or settings I could try.

I know there already is a version of Way Of The Tiger converted to CAS but that is the four side Gremlin Graphics version and this is just on two sides. And it won't convert to the terrible TSX either.

At least make sure you archive the WAV file. Everyone will always be able to make a better version of it, so it's really the base to archive.

Hi CASDuino,
There are lots of parameters to play with in SofaCas, I could give it a try if you send me the WAV file. Another thing to try would be converting it on a real MSX (there are some MSX tools for that IIRC), while paying the WAV file with a PC. Could also be tried on open MSX BTW!

The WAV works fine on OpenMSX it's just the conversion to CAS that isn't.

You can download the WAVs from Here

I think Louthrax means: try to use TAPE2CAS on real MSX, using the real tape or the wav file itself.

It's easy enough just for me to use an Arduitape after I lower the sample rate.
My main thing is turning it into a CAS though as it's still the best archive format for cassette files for the MSX.

TAPE2CAS can do that on a real MSX, that was our point Smile Did you try it?

Does CASDuino work with custom loaders?

At least the version of Way Of The Tiger I've seen, uses the very common custom loader with vertical bars (with all / nearly all colors of the MSX1 pallette). For example Auf Wiedersehen Monty and Elite use the same loader (at least from judging what the loader does with the bars/colors).

(EDIT: correct me if I'm wrong, but at least tape2cas can only work with files in the standard MSX format handled by the MSX BIOS)

That is because CAS files can only work with standard MSX files...

That's not true. Many CAS files include customized files. But the handling to edit 'raw' CAS files when they include such files is difficult. Martos has fixed many of these CAS files, so they can work correctly, especially in emulators.

The CAS format is about which data bytes the BIOS call to read the tape produces, right?
