hehe, the first 4 races are not too hard. Things start getting harder in the Endurance and Formula 1 categories, as cars are faster and you need to brake for taking some turns. And I hope you don't hate me too much in some of the F-1 races, there is one in particular that seems to have multiple paths and you need to take the right turns, and I always get it wrong in one lap or another, screwing the game hahaha

Hmm, sounds like I won't make it to the F1 then Sad Regardless, this is a good game to lose to in MSXdev.

hahaha, yeah, I remember there was this Amiga game I used to play that had this type of fake names. So, I thought it'd be fun to come up with a few hahaha, there are 7 such names per car category Smile

and Skid Vicious, in addition to Sid Vicious, is a reference to 4D Sports driving, where the final opponent was called this way Smile

@Uninteresting: It's not that hard to get to F-1, a few tips:
- Overtake taking the inside line
- It's better to slow down than to crash (it's pretty much impossible to win a race after crashing, you can get 2nd or 3rd place, but not winning, except in a few later longer races where you have time to recover)
- If you win the first 1 races, you will have enough money to buy a faster car, which will make things easier Smile

Hmm... After playing I must say that it really looks like technically excellent game. The AI seems pretty good & solid and it really makes it feel a challenge to overcome the opponents in these tight corners. Too bad the overall entertainment value is a little lower and frustration causing level a little higher than I expected... I guess major reason is that it is one of these games where difficulty level in these narrow streets is brutal from the start and raises from there pretty much in minutes to complete brick wall... No Sunday driving, training or fund rising laps with this game. One time failure and it is immediately "Game Over" and money away. (Personally I managed to raise funds to attend to Alleycat several times, but there it was very hard to keep opponents from taking over with a lap.) My one man opinion of the game difficulty does not anyway make it any less remarkable game. This may not be one of those games you want to return again and again (You've done those as well), but I guess this will still do great on MSXDev compo, good luck!

BTW few more ideas: I think you could put "Game over" to ESC and make it possible to skip agent talk with space.

Unfortunately, testing the game on my VG8020/00 the joystick doesn't want to go. I measured the joystick, used basic and used other games/software and these work.
EDIT: The joystick trigger works when the "CATEGORY: STOCK CAR" is on screen. Could not find an other spot where it worked.
