IIRC, CP/M was the only purpose that uses the 80 column.

I have a program that makes 80 columns on MSX1. Tested on my Yamaha MSX1 and it worked somehow. But it's still buggy. If anyone wants to disassemble it and see how it works, send me a PM.

I don't think it's 80 chars, There was a way to use 64 chars on MSX 1, by using 4 pixes per letter.

This cartridge and the Yamaha CX5MII / YIS503II MSX1’s have a V9938 inside so it can display the MSX2 screen mode 0 width 80 on MSX1 (with some limitations).

Thuis cartridge does not have a v9938 but the gfx chip drom the Amstrad cpc conputer

I wonder if you could use such card to emulate a CPC on the MSX the same way the Master System is emulated... Althought the CPC shares the vram with the z80 whereas this card seems to have its own vram...
