thanks, so for msx2 Philips NMS 8280 or NMS 8250 would you recommend the MegaFlashRoom of cartridge Shop rather than Carnivore2? For the faulty sound management of these MSX2s or for the best features?

My personal opinion .... I have both cartridges.

If you do not have a FM-PAC for msx-audio take carnivore2.
You will have the chance to have on your MSX both MSX-Audio and SCC.

For this reason I use Carnivore 2 on Sony HB-F700P MSX 2 and MegaflashRomscc + 512k on Panasonic WSX MSX2 +.

They are two excellent products, but for your needs I think that carnovore 2 is the product that is for you.

Is there no audio SCC in the MFR? So with Carnivore2 there is no need for a software adaptation for use on my max2 philips 8280? Where can I buy the C2, in many sites it is no longer available?

Depending on which country you'll take delivery in you might be able to buy a Carnivore2 here: http://retrogamerestore.com/carnivore2/

Mfr has scc, but the philips nns 8250/80 has a faulty mix of pgs and scc/ fm pac. So if you put in a scc cartridge the pgs sound is verry verry low, with the MFR you solve that problem. C2 has also fm pac, still I recoment the MFR for the easy use, and fast delevery, I think the c2 is more for the advanced user.

AndreV, then, would the MFR solve the sound problem of my Philips NMS 8280? Doesn't the Carnivore 2 do this? They both use Nextor or SofàRun for file management, so they should be very similar to using both, right?

Yes it solves the pgs scc mix, mfr works verry good. both use sofarun and nextor, i use the mfr as a multirom for the konami games and the c2 for sofarun It also depents witch games you prefer, example aleste undeadline make also use of the fm pac. The soundmix with the c2 you can set the volume, but with my nms8250 i hear no defference thats wy i advice the mfr.

. Or you have to fix the sound issue with the nms 8280, that takes a bit of soldering skills but can be done,

Philips NMS 8280: Replace R426 with a capacitor of 100µF / 16V, with the - direction connector AB. Video print of a Philips NMS 8280

Thanks, I should better understand possibly how to make hardware changes to fix the audio problem to my MSX2 NMS 8280. Or buy the MFR from Cartridge Shop.
