Is it just overpriced one or the game is that rare? Bosconian
P.S. "Blast off!"

EDIT: after looking for prices for other items of this seller... almost everything MSX-related can be put in this thread

Bosconian shows up regularly on Yahoo Japan, and normally is pretty cheap. Also, looking at the box style it is the more common cartridge version with the large through hole that Namco used.

The original release version of a lot of early namco games where the label covers most of the cartridge, are more rare. This one effectively: https://www.generation-msx.nl/software/namco/bosconian-star-...

Someone making money out of Konami's legacy, how nasty

PS why should one buy non-original cartridge for such a price if you can add just a little bit and buy some Carnivore or MFR ? Crazy...

I am justifiably afraid that one day such greedy people will attract the attention of big companies. We're really lucky that the scene wasn't blown up. Similar to Nintendo's large retropages, our popular sources may also be in the offing. Metalgear and Castlevania in particular are drawing a lot of attention to the MSX computers.

I have already reported several items of the like as piracy, but none of them were retired by ebay. They don't seem to care.

I like to collect Konami games but the prices are insane because people buy.

MSX, like all vintage computers, is all about money. People hunt every market place to buy stuff for a low price and sell high, just because there is a market. Thats why MSX stuff gets more and more expensive. If I buy a Metal Gear 1 for 80 euro, I can sell it for 150 euro. The person that paid 150 euro, will probably try to sell it for 250 euro on ebay. So the Rips-Off rating is the result of all the people collecting MSX games. I am sure lots of them are member of this forum.

So, to end the rip-offs there is a simple strategy. Don't buy!

Just buy the Konami Ultimate Collection (all Konami cartridges in one) and be done with it... Unless, ofcourse, you care for a wall full of original boxes... But in the end all those boxes don't play the game Smile

Indeed, what Meits just said...

There are plenty more people buying and selling stuff than belongs (or reads) this forum. I have had actually an feeling that this is more like a cozy far aside corner (buying/selling-wise) away from mainstream nowadays. Personally I know many people who have just an distant knowledge that this forum exists and they happily buy with Ebay-price or bid in Japanese auctions... And believe it or not, prices in Japan has risen a lot too.

For clearance: I'm trying to say that shouting just in this forum "don't buy for too high prices" is more or less just trying to stop the leak in big dam only with your finger Smile

The most plain and common Japanese MSX2 for a mere € 1000!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/MSX/323927128382

And a Sanyo MSX2+ with € 100 worth of games for the “luxury” price of € 1250!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/323927126574

Another one: Sony HB-F1XDJ for € 2000:

As I was browsing eBay today I notice there are a lot more Japanese sellers compared to a few years ago which is nice in principle, but some seem to see it more as a cash cow than anything else. Prices more than double the worth of a game or system is more rule than exception. That east-store-japan is the worst of ’em. Oh look Hydlide for 10 times as much as it’s worth.

Luckily there are also several smaller Japanese sellers who offer systems for better prices (often including shipping), such as this sweet-looking FS-A1FX. I also saw a couple of turbo R listings for reasonable prices, though the best looking of the bunch still goes for twice of what I paid for mine in similar condition 5 years ago. And here’s a Panasonic FS-A1 for € 800, but… boxed NOS.
