The mains lead should be replaced, I *think* it is illegal to send 220v down a lead with only one insulator. It should be a double insulated cable.

Nitpick, European voltage is no longer 220, but "harmonised" to 230V back in 1995. Even though politicians, particularly to appease the UK, decided that they would allow such wide tolerances that nobody actually had to do anything. So in practice anything from 216-253V is allowed.

But here where I live, it is actually 230V.

Need of double insulated cable also depends from the insulation of the device itself and where to device is intended to be used. In this case the danger of getting live voltage from the device is minimal - no metallic parts with 220/230V easily exposed (not without opening the covers) and this device is not intended to be used outdoors, kitchen or bathrooms etc.

Anyway, it's a good idea of applying double insulated cable, if the cable is being changed for having correct type of plug...

Nice computer, would love to have one Smile

The idea is to kept it looking as much original as possible. Classic cars don't have security belts installed on them and
May used them on regular roads with new cars around and is illegal to drive car without using seat belts fastened (used as comparativo)

. If the buyer wants the cable changed no problem I will do but let him do the decission on it mainly because the mod allows the computer to work from a range o 100 to 220 volts (actual law in Spain allows 220+-7% volt range) so if someone from US or any country working at 115 volts buy he or she won't have to be worry about the cable plug in.

But as you said moresecure for user is to have it with nice double insulation cable but would be a buyers choice

Daniel683104: That Spanish law must be an old one, pre 1995. European voltage is officially 230V, and that obviously includes Spain. Tolerances permitted are +10% - 6%, which gives you the range of 216-253V.

Easiest thing ever: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat-shrink_tubing
some disassembly might be needed though.
