I received mine today but I wonder how I should connect the MSXPi to the Rpi. In the requirements list there is no mention of an extra cable but here the picture shows clearly some cables to be attached:

Should those cables have been included in the package or should I buy them myself somewhere and if so where?

Hi.

MSXPi shipped with straight pins wasn't shipped with cables, as it was intended to use Pi Zero directly attached to the interface.
But if you are using another Pi model, you will need the jumpers (female both sides, not provided).

Pinout is exactly the same for Pi 2/3/Zero.

djh1697,

The interface is open hardware and software project, which means many more applications will be available if there was a good community around it.
One of the applications being thought involves patching games to make Pi play the soundtrack in mp3 or other format. The player is already available (pplay.com), and serves as a demonstration code.
People are also talking about developing front end for MSX to play internet radio, for example. Amazing things can be done, depends on how may developers get involved. I will certainly be developing new applications, very often.

By the way, currently I am in Norwich, should stay for a year or so.

@ronivon I am also in the UK, a die hard MSX fan maybe? Had more than one machine since 1984. Where in the UK are you, i am in Leicester. Not sure what i would use this interface for, apart from access the internet on my MSX?

@ronivon Thanks for the clarification. I recon I need 2 cables looking at your picture: That ribbon cable on the top left and jumper like cables. What are they both for? What is their function? Where can I obtain these cables, can you send a link to them?

If you are using Pi2/3 then you need 6 wires (jumpers, both ends cemale).
You can buy these very cheap on ebay and local stores running RPi and Arduino.

You want something like this: https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/181988213590

Just try to get one longer, 10cm may be too short.

As for the ribbon cable in the back, that is for reprogramming the cpld. Leave that for later, you probably dont need that.

Anyway, for a better experience, I recommend you to get Pi Zero W and solder it to the interface.
