I may have just accidentally bought a Yamaha CX5M Music Computer from eBay which is missing its PSU. I made an offer of £40 for the item which includes a YK-10 or YK-20 keyboard, the CX5M main unit missing four keys, and a Music Macro cartridge. Some keyboards alone are selling for more than this price. There was no list of what was included, just seven pics. If the PSU is missing, then another option is to plug the SFG-01 FM sound module into my Philips VG-8235 MSX2 computer, but for some strange reason Yamaha decided to use a 60 pin interface for this module, probably to punish non Yamaha MSX users by making them buy their 60 pin to 50 pin adaptor to connect it to the cartridge port on a non Yamaha MSX computer. Does anyone have or can they make me a 60 pin to 50 pin adaptor for this unit? I'm also a bit worried about the rear cartridge port on the Philips VG-8235, because it's just a bare slot with no holder around it, so a cartridge or the SFG-01 may fall out, causing them enough damage so that they would no longer work. I may need an adaptor for that as well.

Since the adapters are incredibly simple, I was thinking of just making a very short card edge adapter for the SFG-01 and 05 for myself, but since the minimum prototype order is for 5 boards, would you like me to send you one?

This can very easily be adapted to a "ribbon" two-board set if necessary.

Unfortunately I can't afford that one.

These adapters may be “incredibly simple” for you, but not for me. I don't understand everything you've written either.

I can hardly do any soldering. I can't make any simple electronic devices either. About four years ago, I bought an electronics kit based round breadboards, but I couldn't even make the first project, which was a dimmer switch for an LED.

Unless I can get a working PSU for the CX5M I've bought, then I want an adapter with two boards and a ribbon cable to attach the SFG-01 to the vertical cartridge port on my Philips VG-8235 MSX2. I don't want the cartridge to be sticking straight up into the air from the cartridge port, or to plug it into the bare cartidge slot at the rear of the VG-8235. How much money do you want for doing whatever is involved in making this adapter? If you tell me a price I can afford, then I'll pay it. If I can't afford it, then I'll try to negotiate a lower price with you. If I can't agree with you on a price I can afford, then I'll try to desolder the 13 pin DIN socket from the CX5M, solder a 6 pin DIN socket onto it, then risk blowing up the CX5M and electrocuting myself. If I survive this, but the CX5M doesn't, then I'll try to buy another cheap CX5M with PSU.

At the moment, I'm waiting to hear from the eBay seller whether or not she can find the CX5M PSU in her Dad's old house. I'm also trying to buy a CX5M PSU from someone else. I may end up with two SFG-01 modules, then I'd still want this adaptor and could try to combine music from the two modules playing simultaneously.

Yes, me too. I'm in for x 3 of those SFG-01/05 adapters.

I would buy one too if the price is reasonable.

No, not like that. A ribbon cable would have to connect those two parts together. I thought one end would look like a cartridge as well, otherwise it may fall out and blow the SFG-01 module. I don't know exactly what kind of ribbon cable, how to insert it, or how to prevent it from falling out. I need you to do all of that for me. I'm glad some other people on here also want one, otherwise I may have had to pay for all five or ten boards. How much money do you want me to pay you for one of these items in total, include postage and packing?
