Hi uberjack, just in case you missed my thread, I have an F1-Spirit (EU) box to offer. It's not a prestine box unfortunately. Has a tear from the side, luckily it's a clear white side so no art is lost (damn ebay seller didn't show it in the post, and I was too green to raise a complaint back then). But yeah... it's there and looking for a new owner :)

I absolutely detest the people that do this; I've been bit by this several times as well - once with Comic Bakery, then again with Antarctic Adventure. First time I (mostly) let it slide and requested 1/3 off, second time I got really annoyed and requested a return - much to the chagrin of the seller. It's particularly bad for me, since I'm in the US and shipping is both time-consuming and costly.

Oof Comic Bakery? Sorry to hear that.. was it expensive back then? For some reason this game is extremely expensive nowadays. I never played it myself so I'm not even sure if it plays as great as its cost

Not particularly expensive, but hard to come by - Japanese version in particular. The seller had taken pictures from every single side, except the one with the huge tear, all across the bottom of the box. In every photo she posted, the game looked pristine. Imagine my surprise when I got the game back in perfect condition - except the horrible gash at the bottom.

I don't have any of these titles but it's nice to find another MSX fan in the US. Not many people in our country take the plunge once they find out how pricey and difficult it can be. For me, it was my love of Compile that got me involved with the system. Golvellius for Sega Master System is the first game that I fell in love with. That first overworld music, that's the first thing that pops into my head when I try to imagine what a video game sounds like.

Aside from that, what's really kept my interest is the undying mystique around collecting for MSX. It's like when I was younger, and Nintendo and Sega systems still had so many new titles to discover. Now with fullsets galore and every hidden gem being unearthed and a hundred online videos made about it, that's been long gone for popular consoles, but with MSX, it never goes away. Nobody knows how many of these games were ever actually made and people will probably still keep finding out about new MSX games for decades to come. Every game I get in the mail is like a little special piece of history.

But I'm sorry to derail. Back to the game hunt!

I almost entirely collect Japanese games, but down the line I might have something that you want, and I'm in the US so shipping won't be bad. I have a tendency to buy big lots for one or two games so I have quite a few extras and doubles. I wanted to open a computer store here in the US with stuff like MSX and X68k, but honestly I don't know anymore if I'll have time...

Agreed; I wish ASCII marketed the MSX in the States more aggressively. Although the C64 had a considerable hold here, and I'm not sure how much good that would've done. I learned to program on the MSX, and filled out notebook after notebook with BASIC games that I never got a chance to test - didn't have my own system Immigrated to the States in the early 90's and was lucky to catch the tail end of NES and beginning of SNES, so I collect those too, to a lesser extent.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks. I'm very close to finishing Konami games (mostly got the orange boxes and the rare-as-hens-teeth mini/micro boxes left), after which I'll be looking for PonyCa and Compile games - always loved Zanac and Aleste.

Regarding opening a store - that sort of thing will either make or break a person here. It's weird; there are retro stores and arcades here that flourish (e.g. Neon Retro), and others that start and stay holes-in-the-wall. Pretty big gamble. If you do though, you got yourself a customer
