With an expansion kit (which sells for €35) this can be upgraded to be MSX-audio compatible for use in supporting games. Many games can be tricked to work without the modification though (easiest way is to use SofaRun).
It also works great with vgmplay for MSX and also plays back non MSX soundtracks in vgm format for the Y8950 or compatible chips (aka OPL1).
