isn't there an fMSX port for the Dreamcast? And a blueMSX port for the X80X...
fMSX/S60 (how COULD you forget that one? )Actually, that would be two variants, since there's two 'different' ports for I don't know what kind of difference in the phones/OSes...
fMSX/DC and DreamMSX for Dreamcast/Linux users. Doesn't qualify for DOS/Win emus though
Was this one listed yet?
And this one?
fMSX/DC and DreamMSX for Dreamcast/Linux users. Doesn't qualify for DOS/Win emus though Oh, right.... *blush* Hmmm.... something tells me that atari emu might not qualify either then
And this one?
I checked out SVGAMSX... It's a very unknown emulator indeed. This is some output:
SvgaMSX by John Beuving 2000
Usage: svgamsx [-option] [filename1] [filename2]
-help - Print this help page
-diska <filename> - Set disk image used for drive A: [DRIVEA.DSK]
-diskb <filename> - Set disk image used for drive B: [DRIVEB.DSK]
-sync <frequency> - Sync screen updates to <frequency> [0]
Keyboard bindings:
[F8] - MENU
[F11] - Screenshot
It seems to be an fMSX clone with video output for SVGAlib.
No source code can be found on the net...
Interesting finding, manuel
I didn't know this emulator, but with the description above, I presume that it runs under MS-DOS (I'll check that), so it must be counted in this quiz !
I can say already say that there will be another surprises when I'll give the complete list : some emulators have never been presented on MRC
Is that such a great shame? If you really wanted we reported about them, you could have sent a notification of it, now couldn't you?
A community doesn't unnecessarily consist of reporters and followers...
Should we count all versions of fMSX for Windows (I mean, the same version of fmsx source with just display drivers and gui written by different guys) ?
I personally remember one written by some japanese guy (v 1.5 was the latest), then Marat wrote his own version, but I am sure there were more of them - everyone tried to create his own free version...
I also know about at least 3 fmsx-dos programs: one by Marcel de Kogel, one by some russian (if I am not mistaken, this gave Marcel the the push to create his own variant) and one more by Marat Fayzullin himself, distributed together with Windows version.
Also there were more versions of fmsx for DOS - I remember some version done by koreans, featuring direct floppy access, etc.
So, we cannot count all the fmsx clones - and there is no need for it.
On Unix, nobody counts original fmsx and the same fmsx with advanced screen drivers by Arnold Metselaar or by Shigeki Itoh as two different programs (not speaking about flavors of Unix...)
For example, my friend compiled fMSX on Linux with svga libraries maybe 5 or 6 years ago, should I list it as "Linux MSX emulator" ?
