Hi,

last night I spoke with ZodTTD of zodttd.com. ZodTTD is known amongst emulator users for porting quite a few emu's to the Iphone (Mame, SNES, NES etc.) I asked him if it was possible to port fMSX on iPhone and if he's willing to make that port.

He told me that, because there's already a port for GP2X , this could be done quickly.

The catch: He's overloaded with request so every week he makes a poll with things to do for the weekend. Visitors can vote on those things (unfortunately only after registration) and the most voters will win his spare time to port things or to update existing ports.

Next week the fMSX poll on iPhone will be up.

My request: if you have an iPhone or are planning to obtain one somewhere in the future: please help me to realise a MSX emulator on iPhone. Create an account on zodttd.com and vote for an MSX emulator next week.

Thanks in advance,

Sander

And yes I have an iPhone 3G also :P

Why not port openMSX, instead of fMSX? Much more accurate and faster as well (at least on GP2X it is faster).

@manuel: so where´s that elusive openMSX-GP2X binary then?

Go to #openmsx at irc.freenode.net
There you can found the authors.
All the community will be interested in such a port.
and, forget about fmsx. All fmsx ports to Symbian and/or Windows Mobile are terrible...

Probably this ZodTTD guy already have several IPhone UI routines. With just a few support from #openmsx team, would probably be easier to port it to iPhone/iPod touch device...

What do you think manuel?

BodyHammer: as Wouter wrote to Ivan yesterday:

Yes, openMSX runs on the GP2X, even better than fMSX for GP2X (faster and _way_ more accurate). But it's not generally available yet Sad

The main reason why it's not officially released yet is because there's no user interface for it yet. For example, to play a different game you still have to manually hack some startup scripts. There also hasn't been much progress lately on the UI Sad

We could definatly use some help here. I'll gladly explain how you can build your own GP2X openmsx version (basically it's just setting up a GP2X development enviroment and compile a recent openmsx SVN version).
The basic infrastructure for the UI is also there already, it just needs to finished (and polished a lot).

Please let me know if you're interested. You can contact us by mail, or even easier join us on IRC: irc.freenode.net #openmsx

Count me too, even if I would never change my beloved Blackberry for an iPhone Smile

I saw that someone also set up a poll in the forum at zodttd.com. Check it out here: MSX Emu Poll

BTW: For people willing to push openMSX as the preffered source for the emulation don't be shy and get involved ;)

I have an iPhone and yes I'd love to see an msx emulator on it. The emulation is probably simple but how are you going to manage ROMs since you cannot browse the device or drop stuff on it.
