A simple fMSX port would do the trick. The emulator should use specific iPhone/iPad features or no game will be playable due to the lack of controls and buttons. I wonder what can be made to make the emulator usable.

On the iPad there's plenty of space to put controls, I don't think that's an issue. iPhone will be more limiting yes.

It's exciting to see the C64 emulator finally being accepted properly in App Store. As this means we can officially have a MSX emulator on App Store as well.

If you want this emulator to have the official BIOS/BASIC, you'll still need to obtain a license (pay) for that through people like D4E.

Sure, you could have C-BIOS, but there is still an issue with that. The old commercial game ROMs are not public domain. So, you will still need to obtain the rights to distribute them with the emulator or make them available through in-game downloads/purchases (even if they are free).
Unless you just make free homebrew games available with the emulator.

But, I am willing to negotiate with relevant parties the necessary rights, if anyone is serious in developing open msx/blue msx/fmsx/any other port (also need to negotiate a license for use for these emulators as well, unless you are the author.)

How does the C64 author handle the legal stuff about games and BIOS?

I dont believe in applestores. We live in a free world,we have compilers that create code as much as we want.Apple has no right to force us buy shit from applestore.Let's all jailbreak our phones and fill them with openmsx and anything else.

Amen!

The C64 emulator author have licensed the rights legally. It mentions it on their Manomio web site, and read it somewhere else before:
c64.manomio.com/index.php/about

One other possibility to avoid jailbreaking is, to have a legal OpenMSX + C-Bios + a game ROM version officially on the App Store, then eventually someone will hack that app to patch other ROMs.

yadda yadda .. that's a typical nerd answer. No-one in the real world cares about that. All they want is something that works well and is easy to use. jailbreaking is neither.

Don't like the iPhone and the way Apple handles software? Don't buy it.

hey guys, I'm new here, but oh so waiting for a MSX emulator on the iPhone (or iPod/iPad).

Once again I contacted ZodTTD and hope he will port an emulator to the iPhone.

But there's something new here. I think most of you don't know that the brilliant minds behind the OpenPandora are now creating a iControlPad which will fit around your iPhone making it a handheld-console. It's almost ready for ordering. With almost I mean before the end of November 2010.
The great part about it, is that ZodTTD supports the iCP, so any port he does make will automatically work on the iCP.

So here's were I need all of you. I want ZodTTD to make a new poll which includes the MSX emulator port, so we can vote for that port once again. And because you can transform your iPhone/iPod into a handheld with the iCP (better control support) I think the support from the community will be GREAT!!

Will you guys help with the voting and get the word out to other msx communities??

It's not a nerd answer.Having access to open operating system that would allow one that knows to do what he wants is not nerd at all.Nerd is to buy stuff from applestore that should be free.Besides jail breaking an iphone is not longer illegal http://www.quickpwn.com/2010/07/jailbreak-day-jailbreaking-is-now-100-legal.html apple tried to make it illegal but it is not.

nikodr: If you truly value freedom, it is better to buy a device that is not locked in the first place instead of supporting a manufacturer of a locked device with your money and then jailbreak it. For example the Nokia N900 is sold without locks and it runs openMSX (and fMSX too).
