Hi there. I am one of the people involved in developing LOGI-BAL developed mainly by Herman Post of the MCCE. I am trying to get it to run in an emulator. No luck so far. Its on the Milennium CDs of MCCM in the copyright section. Does anyone know if its possible to run it? It seems to be a DOS boot disk but I can't get it to boot in any of the emulators I tried.

Regards, Jacco

The MCCM cd Logi-Bal disk doesn't boot because it doesn't have DOS on it... Also, the LOGIBAL.BAT file on it assumes that most stuff is on drive B: and also assumes COMMAND 2.4... furthermore, it needs MEMMAN.

In other words, you need to install it somewhere according to the manual.

(The same things you saw would happen on a real MSX as well.)

Hello Manuel,

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll try your tips MEMMAN and DOS24 on an emulator.

I thought I remembered it could run stand alone :-) It al is a long time ago...

I would also expect that, actually.

I tried a little bit, but I couldn't really get it running. I kept getting "Not enough heap memory (at least 400 bytes)" when starting GIOS.COM.

Yeah I solved that using CNFGMMAN and adjusting the heap size of the COM file to 600 bytes (also I manually started MEMMAN then TL GIOS then GIOS (which starts GIOS.COM) and then TL MU3REPL and then LOGI-BAL. I had it running in openMSX but I think the emulation of the video processor of that emulator is not fully working. The main menu worked good but starting the game gave a wrong level pattern and I could not play the game properly. I want to get it running in fMSX or blueMSX but havent succeeded yet in getting MEMMAN to work on those emulators.

Think we played by the rules back than by not putting copyrighted material on our disk. That´s probably why its not one disk that works on its own.

I made a single disk image which boots the game correctly. And it runs fine in openMSX, as far as I can see...

The cfgmman thing was the trick! Smile Thanks for that hint.

I remember a workshop with LEDS and microcontrollers back then. Names I remember are Albert, Frits, Herman, Adri and Olaf. Am trying to contact a few through social media. So far only found Adri.

Don't know about an MSX in a Phone cell :-)

Thanks! Got your mail, testing now. Am trying to figure out now how I can get the better music :-) The PSG sound is nostalgic but annoying too. I thought MCCE had some composers who made some scc music to the game. Could be wrong though :-)

Simple, plug in an FM-PAC or a Music Module and it will use it. As far as I can see, PSG and/or SCC are not supported...
