Hi all,

The openMSX team is preparing a new release, after one year of development.

You can help!Hi all,

The openMSX team is preparing a new release, after one year of development.

You can help! Please help testing to find the bugs before we release, and not after!

It's easy, as there's a full Windows installer available (just like the final release), which you can use to quickly install and also remove this version of openMSX.

More information is here in our chat room: http://openmsx.sf.net/mibbit.php
The channel has always a link to the latest installer snapshot! (And there's also a Mac/x86 binary!)

Currently, try this one: http://openmsx.sourceforge.net/temp/openmsx-0.6.3-dev8406-win32-bin.exe

Please give us your comments, so that the final release will be as good as we can! :)

Great news! Smile

What features should we pay a special attention when testing?

You can check the file doc/release-notes.txt, to see an overview of the changes. Those you could focus on. But apart from that, any kind of testing is fine.

For details, feel free to click the Mibbit link.

Sd-Snatcher: if you find it so important, what's stopping you from helping us out?

Just wanted to suggest implementing YM3802 for use with tnt23's MSX-Link, but I am afraid I will get the same answer - "implement it yourself".

cax - but how are we supposed to implement it then? Also, I didn't say "implement it yourself". I said: "Help us out if you find it so important.". Helping can be done in many ways.

We are not magicians... we can't implement all you guys can think of on the spot!

I can help any developer with

- providing chip specs
- testing on a real hardware myself
- providing test cases and software that uses the chip
- giving ready source code of the chip from some other emulation project

I think there are 3 reasons that prevent YM3802 emulation works from being started:

- being wide spread in USSR, it's almost unknown in Europe and therefore is out of interest for you, guys
- almost nobody in Europe own a networked MSX2 with YM3802, so you can rely only on me and a couple of other guys for testing
- even if openMSX aims to implement all existing hardware in the universe, the number of potential users of YM3802 emulation is not that big.
