For one thing, I'm glad MSX Resource Center has no sponsored links on any of the pages apart from the Donation button get the site going and being able to help the MSX community in so many ways.

I do like the idea of setting up an MSX ringtone service like you suggested though. I just wouldn't like to see a banner of the site providing the service for MRC. Except for MSX related banners of course.

Saab_rider, isn't F1 spirit , goonies and yie ar kungfu 1 already done ??
Roadfighter has almost no music but can be done offcourse.

What do you think about those spectrum zx like tunes ??
(rambo III, int. karate ect ect)

Sorry for not replying for quite some time! Shaiwa, I haven't played MSX games for a long time, I once deleted a 100 gb hard disk by mistake and lost a LOT of stuff! Now I redownloaded most of the great MSX games, and I'm trying to figure out what bgm would be good for ring tones.

You're right, those games were done before. Road Fighter doesn't have bgm, but it has the intro music which starts after you start the game. Very short, but still cool.

I haven't tried the other games you mentioned, but I'm sure they'd be great. Did you ever play "Thexder"? It has great music too!

Can you tell me what programs you're using to extract the music? and what emulator are you using? Thanks again! hope you reply since it's been a while already!

LOL! saa[b_r]ider LOL!

No problem Saab_rider,

I'm using nlmsx, paramsx, fmsx-dos, and some more but i prefer a real msx.
You can use fmsx-dos & paramsx to extract some music.
When midi is made i use psmplayer to convert it to mld format (imode ringtone format)

For midi tools i use :
Cakewalk 9
Musicmaker studio 2000
Akoff music composer.

Did you hear the scc version of roadfighter ?? i think its nice.
Its a long time since i've played Thexder, you can find re-arranged game midi's
of this game on the net.

Thanks Shaiwa 8)

i prefer a real msx.

My MSX was damaged by connecting it to the wrong voltage! Crying And don't even know if it's still around! It should be fixable, and I should do something about it!

Is the music extracted as midi files, or other music formats?

Did you hear the scc version of roadfighter ??

Are you talking about the roadfighter in Konami's Game Collection Special? I played it, and to me it sounds very similar to the original version.

Somebody should write a converter, to convert part of a music string in msx basic files (eg. psg play and fmpac play commands) to Nokia ringtones.

I wonder if this is possible. We have those polyphonic phones nowadays.

Fmsx makes a dump in psg format and paramsx can dump to a wav file.
Within the paramsx control box you can select the psg and/or scc channels,
or you can do than with keyboard shortcuts.

Yes, i'm talking about that version. The sound is the same but now its also over the scc
channels. When i've got some time i will try to make a midi from it.
(don't know if i can make a midi just sound like the real thing)

I think you can find an fmpac basic to midi converter on the funet site
(i've seen it once somewhere). Then you can use a midi to ringtone converter.

Hi again Shaiwa!

After you get fmsx to dump the psg file, or paramsx to dum the wav file, how do you convert it to midi?

IIRC fMSX and RuMSX support routing the PSG/FM-PAC output to a MIDI device. All you have to do is get a MIDI-Sequencer and push the record button Smile

I'm using the dos version of fmsx Snout. I've never found a way to record the fmsx dos
fm output to a midi. With the registerd windows version i can be done.

Use hubi's virual loopback cable. I'm using cakewalk pro 9 for re-arraging,
but i use a real keyboard for recording.
Magix music studio v2000 seems to be verry easy for hardisk recording but
i never used it for midi.
