We, MSX people witnessed the birth of this brillant game (concept)!

I loved to play the MSX game. The missions were nice, never got further than mission 17 "at the time"...
What I liked even more, was playing versus a human player, and back then, we thought our level was pretty advanced.

Then I saw some Japanese guys battling against each other on some console-fair...
Made my stomach churn!

However, nowadays, through the "wonder of emulation" Wink I got acquainted to later versions of this game.
It's a game you'll learn to understand even better than you thought you did! Smile

Without meaning to brag (muhahaha) I can say, that I finished without cheating:

SNES - Super Puyo Puyo

SNES - Super Puyo Puyo 2

Arcade - Puyo Puyo

SMS - Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine

Sega Genesis - Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine

Yes, I actually got beter at the game, subsequently dared to pick up the MSX version again, and got quite a bit missions further!

I almost became an expert like those freaked-out Japs! Smile

My goal is to eventually beat every *real* Puyo Puyo game ever made.

Is there someone here who has ever beaten all missions of the MSX 2 version?

And, generally, wanna play against me, bee-otch? Face

Great. Try now Guru Logic Champ (Game Boy Advance). An excellent puzzle by Compile (non-competitive). Smile

I've beaten all missions with Puyo Puyo way back when. Iirc it has a real strange final stage number: 52 or some' such. Always liked the missions. Don't know why they weren't in any other Puyo game I saw after the msx version.

Versus games were cool too. Very nice how they handled for chains to be disrupted.

I accept your challenge Demonseed. I have Puyo Puyo (MSX), Puyo Puyo 2 (PC+PSX) Puyo Puyo Sun (PSX), Puyo Pop Fever (PS2) and a little Puyo-shaped handheld version of the game. Especially my girlfriend (maybe you know her Tongue ) is good at Puyo Puyo. Afterwards I have a little Gradius challenge for you...

Hah, I also finished the missions back then! Smile I don't remember it was that hard, though.

Hmmm... A lot of experts here!

I should beat all missions of MSX Puyo Puyo and try the versions on other systems before I tear open a big mouth about the game again... Wink

But the challenge is still on! Smile

@Meits, must be nice!

Saw a screenshot, looked different in a good sense.

Are there more MSX-ish titles on that machine?

Don't forget to play those:
flobopuyo - clone of the PuyoPuyo game
kfouleggs - A KDE clone of the Japanese PuyoPuyo game
ksirtet - Tetris and Puyo-Puyo games for KDE
xpuyopuyo - A puzzle game similar to tetris, played with colored blobs
