nah, he/they (Kralizec) freaked out due to the crack, not that some guy dumped the game, and that's not msx.org's fault is it?
Look at mars going bragmode/silly-defense here too: http://karoshi.auic.es/index.php?topic=2153.0
(gets a coke and some potatochips)
It's the same old story of a 'cat-and-mouse' situation. Sure I have the utmost respect for developers (for example) who release their hard-worked-on project. I'd buy it.. but I'd also crack it It's the challenge that makes me. Have done that in the past for many products. The only thing is that I do not put it online. I crack games not only b'coz I can but also to make it work on HD or an EMU for example. Makes my life easier.
Putting cracked games online while the product is still for sale (and not announced public domain) is bad, m'kay. Just like drugs, m'kay. (wel... uhm)
Making cheats for the goonies is cool, if it's for own use.
It's like GR800 said; it is the community itself that destroys the community.
mars has been awfully silent the last two days (and at the same time been surfing MSX sites non-stop ).
Let's hope he at least contacted Kralizec in private about the issue.
hmm and yeah g800, the trolling behaviour on half of the pages of this dramatopic shouldn't belong on a community. That part is very typical of some mrc users and moderators being way too soft on them.
I think we have seen the worst of the MSX Community during the past few days. The way I see it, mars2000you is a man who likes to throw a rock in the water and then look at the waves he created. IMHO it's no coincidence he used this topic and this topic only to return on MRC after ~5 years of inactivity. Sad thing is he needed only a handful of posts to get what he wanted. We, the MSX community, allow him to do this by (over)reacting. Mars, I hope you feel proud about yourself, but what you have done does not benefit the MSX commmunity, your image or even that of blueMSX in any way. Sure, you got your precious support for the game in blueMSX by ignoring the developer's wishes. But the result is that the group that allowed these great games to exist in the first place halted all its activities, at least for the time being. There must have been a more diplomatic way that would not have ended like this, right?
I am also flabbergasted about the "another MSX group stops, so what?!"-reactions. The MSX Community is at a point in time where every MSX developer that throws in the towel will be missed. Surely, there still is a lot of activity going on, but if this is the way we are going to treat active MSX developers from now on their numbers will rapidly and drasticly decrease. How can you possibly say things like this if you want to keep MSX alive?
Kralizec - I can understand that you are completely fed up with MSX after all that has happened. But please don't let the people that supported you throughout the years suffer from a few rotten apples. They weren't your audience to begin with - and now even your fanbase has to resort to 'drastic measures' if they want to obtain an(other) copy of your games. Please, at the very least, allow your games to be sold again. Take a deep breath. And reconsider. Think of all the good times you had on MSX. Are you really going to let a handful of wankers take that away from you?
Hahaha!!! I open a thread to ask for keyboard support in the game, and it comes to this show!
Falafel, or whatever your name is, you should be very, very ashamed of yourself. I am flabbergasted by your total lack of respect.
In fact, most of you should be very ashamed of yourselves. The MSX Related Community (MRC) can add another notch on its belt of destroyed MSX projects and/or people.
It's been going on for 8 years... 8 more years until you've succeeded in killing the MSX scene completely?
As Spanish I am, like this irresponsible "user", I'm quite ashamed how compatriots destroy the motivation of the others, anyway not new, we are already used about this kind of situations. I really don't understand what some "users" want, I'm pretty sure for some of them doesn't matter if the MSX dissapear tomorrow, then what are you doing here like ticks sucking blood? Please go away an let us keep MSX alive!
@EVPON: Irresponsible? Me? I DIDN'T dump the damn thing. I DIDN'T crack it. I just found a ROM dump, and having an MSX cloned in FPGA with no cartidge slot (and having tried to buy the game in the past in digital format), I just asked if it's possible to play with a joystick.
It's childish it came to this, but remember I wasn't allowed to play the game in the begining.
@Gay-vre800 or whatever your name is , I like the Falafel mistake, you made me laugh a lot. But your nick is easy to hack into something funny, too!
Hahaha!!! I open a thread to ask for keyboard support in the game, and it comes to this show!
Kralizek, Ramones or whoever you are, this is VERY funny!:
-You create a game based on copyrighted characters and names.
-You take FREE FPGA implementations of the SCC and PSG chips, and incorporate them in your cartidges.
-You hope you can decide who can and who can't play your game: people on emulators? No, they are not allowed! People on Altera DE1? No! Those are not MSX machines by our stantards!
-People finds a way to play your game for free since you're trying to force them into using them the exact way you want.
-You get angry and quit.
Grow up. People will ALWAYS use software the way they want to: that's a reality that can't be avoided. And the more you try to constrain them in the way they use your software, the more will they hack their way to use it the way they want.
I've not words for it.
from Spanish forum(sorry, no english translation):
@Guillian: Yo pagaría encantado por una ROM de este juego, ya que mi MSX es un poco especial: es una Altera DE1 con el core del One Chip MSX. Carece de slots de cartuchos, y aún así me encantaría jugar vuestro juego en esta máquina, que es un MSX aunque su corazón sea FPGA y su carcasa una caja de madera y cristal (bastante chula) que me he hecho para él.
As you said, if you really want to play this game (in the first place) buy it.
And......... if your DE1 hasn't slot cartridges for using it, then fix the problem (your ploblem).
Don't shoot against game developers team if they don't want sell the .rom file.
By the way, you can't use moonsound, GFX9000, and many other cartridge hardware.
Alguna idea?
Yes of course, hook two slot cartridge to your Altera DE1. (from spare parts 8250/55/80 slot cartridge) you can buy it from Bas(Netherlands).
If you do it(it's not as difficult), I'm sure you can play with the goonies cartridge and use other msx hardware.
And respect KRALIZEC decision please .
Sorry for my English.

GuyveR800 was not banned from MRC?
http://www.msx.org/forumtopic3155.html
...because we think GuyveR800 isn't the teamplayer the MRC needs...

So vanfanel, you kind of thought that you're entitled to play the game, even if you didn't own the proper machine to run it?
