Halfway the MSX Fair in Nijmegen, three people moved forward: Wammes Witkop (former publisher and chief editor of MSX Computer Magazine, later on publisher of MSX Computer & Club Magazine), Robbert Wethmar (editor for both magazines) and Hayo Rubingh (editor for both magazines). They informed the guests that their mission to scan all the MCM and MCCM issues was just finished! This means that all the issues of MSX Computer Magazine and MSX Computer & Club Magazine can now be read online and be downloaded as PDF. Ninety issues, from February 1985 to Autumn 1997, a major chunk of Dutch MSX history.

The three joined the traditional after party in the Chinese restaurant, disclosing even more stories and gossip while some others were jokingly quoting some unforgettable lines from MCM - lines which the staff even forgot about!

Ah, how the years pass by.. pigs 'n ducks forever!

I had a few of the MSX/DOS issues and some of the MCCM issues when they originally came out, and bought some later at fairs, but ... I've got some reading to do here Hannibal

Great effort; a big thank you to the people who went through all this trouble !

In case people haven't noticed: That publisher who owns this site is bankrupt:

http://webwereld.nl/markttrends/79035-hub-uitgevers-vraagt-f...

Is there a backup of this project somewhere, just in case the site goes down?

Don't know if it's run by Hub, as the domainname is registered by Robert Wethmar (as it seems under a personal domainname).

Undoubtedly there are backups on users' hard drives, but indeed such single-source information is vulnerable enough.
Is there a particular reason the whole set couldn't be hosted here?

Probably copyrights. Besides, I believe the magazines are stored on google docs, so even with the website discontinuing, the mags should still be available (although I'm not sure how google keeps them up-to-date...)

At least the ones I checked just now are at google docs... Iirc there is/was some differences between magazine X, Y and Z... If it was the way of scanning or the place they're hosted? Dunno... They should be safe at google docs, but how to get there *if* the mccm domain is gone?
I downloaded them all to my HD so they load quite a tad faster, but the search engine on the website is rather handy to find just that one article you need/want... I'd miss that if they're gone...
There should be a way to keep that domain up... Somehow I doubt that Wammes wants to see that site die and could be willing to put it on his personal account and accept donations/subscribers from the scene...

@Poltergeist: How do you mean keeping them up-to-date? They're PDFs and I doubt there will be a scan of #91 Wink

@Meits: I noticed that the URL to google docs contains an URL to the PDF on www.msxcomputermagazine.nl. I don't know if google periodicaly checks of that site is still available, and if not, delete the docs. (would be kind of stupid, but you never know)
