The dot is definitely in the wrong place and one extra zero is there. Should be 189.50 Smile

Nice silly price :) Just bought one from the maker in Brazil. 1/5 of the price...

Besides the crazy pricing, I have a feeling the cartridge is a fake.

In addition to the Salamander cart, he also has similar "beta" cartridges up for Nemesis 2 and Metal Gear 2. Listed for 6500 EUR each.

Looking at them, the cartridge cases themselves are definitely Konami. The labels however look strange.
- Obviously they are not the same labels that we know from production releases, but then they are marketed as being "beta" releases.
- The labels for the Salamander and Nemesis 2 carts are very bright, and to me give the impression they were only just printed. They also seem to have no wear to them after more than 30 years.
- The text written on the labels is written in pretty poor English.

So I would be suspicious. The Metal Gear 2 cart seems more authentic, it also has a more typical label that we know Konami used for beta cartridges.

The Salamander cart - I have one too. Only handful with this label is known. Actual origin and purpose is unknown, but what I know, those popped up a long time ago in Yahoo Japan one by one. Maybe they were made for the game release in game show? Alternative first print label test? A sample cart for local shops in Japan (this was apparently pretty common there)? I haven't dumped the ROM file yet from mine, but it's in my to-do list.

Nemesis 2 beta looks real too, if you take a close look on those pics in auction you can see that the label has also minor wear, for example just below KONAMI 1987 text there is a small rip in the label. I have similar too and know a few more existing. It can be really called as beta as the ROM is also different. More data about this here:

http://bifi.msxnet.org/msxnet/konami/nemesis2/

I have never seen Salamander or the Nemesis 2 beta versions sold with manual or box. Most likely those does not exist in similar style than the cart labels.

If I recall correctly, the MG2 is more an advertisement cartridge, not actually playable, but runs the main demo and mentions the release date and game price at some point and then loops to beginning. Could be kept running in a shop window, for example. Few other similar things exist, for example Quarth.

Text written is called Engrish ;)

BTW, afaik seller stopped collecting for MSX and is now slowly selling his personal collection. I have also talked with the seller (a long time before he put his personal collection items for sale) about these and collecting generally. My belief is that these are real. When I compared these to my carts I couldn't see any flaw in labels, neither differences between the print quality and texts.

Maybe the carts are real, but the seller thought to relabel them, which would be a degration of their original worth and state. Or these were used for promotional purposes.
The labels look definitly more glossy than regular Konami Cartirdges. The corners are rounded, but normally there would be a cheaper label quality.
Better ask the seller for more info, for 6500,- he should be able to provide it, otherwise he also got fakes Wink

I'm trying to say that I think they are completely original. Also labels were originally attached to those carts. Big smile

I have a plenty of original Japanese Konami carts which are similarly glossy... Mostly bought directly from Japan a long time ago. Not a lot of use so they are still shiny. Also it's usual to see more or less small scratches in backside of the cart, if they are a lot used.

That peeling off which you can see in few photos is normal these days for the originals. I have noted that happening lately for some carts I bought already ~20 years ago and have been mostly stored away (few uses every now and then). Still shiny label and looks like new, but the glue is getting weak and label has started to raise a bit.

But yeah, ask more details from him. I believe I have said enough now...

I discovered this evening my all-time favorite for this thread:
MSX KONAMI MULTIPLAYER CABLE ONLY BOX FIRST TIME EVER IN EBAY

At first glance, I was assuming it was the complete item, the box and the cable.

But... no, it's only... an empty box, for 6500€ ! And no, there's no manual !

I'm pretty sure the gold equivalent weight of this is cheaper! I imagine myself asking my banker for a loan, to buy... an empty box !

Ah well, I guess this can only happen on MSX :)

Ok, this has to be the best find in this r-rated thread of the year 2018! Hahaha
Maybe the smell of the cable is still inside! :D
