I'm new in this forum, that's why i want to introduce myself:
my name is Gerhard, "constructed" in the year 1973 in Austria.
I must say, that obviously unlike e.g. in the Netherlands, MSX was not such popular in my country. Most of my friends had those ugly^H^H^H^H (hoops) Commodores. So it was pretty hard to gather some software or detailed infos about the hardware. But this fact could not decrease my interests. It was the MSX, where i started to build up my knowlegde about intregrated circuits, machine language and microprocessor design.
My first computer was the VG8235, which i sold in order to finance the next one: the NMS 8280.
Many years later: a little bit frustrated about the current computer developments (gigahertz, gigabytes, ... giga-everything, but IMHO the overall performance did not increase thousand times), some months ago i unwrapped my good old NMS 8280 from the packing, where it was sleeping since 1991. And it worked fine!
In the meanwhile i bought some hardware stuff, which i could only dream of in the late eighties: IDE interface, serial interface, graphic tablet and finally the lovely Sony HitBits F700P and G900AP, ...
Fortunately, i am no longer alone with my enthusiasm for MSX and can now communicate with you virtually around the world. And in my opinion, this is maybe the best improvement of the last 20 years!
:-)
