Coming soon, please be patient. But there is no magic involved, just some code rewriting. Wink

Now I’m even more curious! Looking forward to soon, thanks for the hard work Smile.

Yes and no.

Nextor is designed to work with any hardware for which a proper driver is written. But indeed, currently the only hardware with a proper driver available is the MFR SCC+ SD. There is also a Sunrise IDE driver but it is quite inmature yet and does not work very well (altough some persons report the opposite).

@Guillian

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't comparing the two interfaces, but just reporting my experience with the LPE-MMC-V8. Smile

The MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD is a great interface and I usually recommend it for everyone who needs an all-in-one-no-worries gaming solution. And it's also the fastest evolving one.

IMHO, to be perfect it could have:
- Easier game user disk support (read/write)
- Support for turbo Z80 machines

But being a very good solution doesn't mean that it's the only one, isn't it? Smile
I find the LPE-MMC software a show of its own, for example. Ramones really did a great job. I couldn't find any other interface where an inexperienced user could get a new card formatted and running so easily.

About the speed, I didn't look into the details. All I know is that it runs very fast when I use SDSPEED.COM, so all disk access is done in R800 mode.

I did not take you wrong. I just was adding some extra information. Wink
I think that it is good to know all points in a device, not only the good ones.
So, if the device comes without a cartridge case, has a non working SD slot, fails in several MSX machines, has problem recognizing cards, does not support SDHC cards or 4GB partitions, etc. It is worth to mention it.

AFAIK, MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD works fine in turbo modes, 7MHz mods and all MSX compatible machines.

About writing game user disk support (read works perfect). Konamiman is working on that. Instead of reverse engineering EP.COM from Kazuhiro Tsujikawa, he will implement all from scratch.

Also, formating a SD card is quite easy in Nextor. But most of the times you don't need to format it, since it works out of the box when you buy it.

I use both at the moment. The Sunrise IDE nextor driver is running on my Sunrise. I just have 1 big fat 16 partition. The only thing I noticed is that writing files is taking a lot of time compare to the original rom! Maybe it has something to do with the disk space check during writing a file. It think it is more then 10 times slower. Reading works fine. If I boot SymbOS there is no issue anymore as SymbOS has his own driver for the Sunrise.

1 Own 2 MegaFlashROM cartridges. I have to say: only 1 is working with 7Mhz and the other is not. I have seen more people that have the same issue with a turbo kit. (Where the slot is also 7 Mhz)

The only thing that I noticed is that somehow the 1 slot cartridge, without the memory extension is working on 7 Mhz fine. ( At least I have seen this with 3 MegaflashRom cartridges with just 1 slot. Those were all working on 7 Mhz)

The others: 2 slot, and the 2 slot with memory (I tried this also) seem to be not working on (my) 7 Mhz kit.
I have to say this is based on my experience and tested some different models in Nijmegen and at my place.

Yes Nextor is cool! Embedded FDISK etc. possibility to map DSK images!

Overal the MegaFlashSD+ os a very nice device. You can boot ROMS, you can boot in DSK mode, You have Memory expansion, A SCC .. and Nextor.. so I think this cardrige is very usable if you want one in all solution.

But, in my case, if you want to connect a memory expansion, a mp3 card, a GFX9000 and maybe a moonsound to your MSX it is also nice to have a storage device like the sunrise that works in a sub-slot...

So I think every storage device has it's cool features !! And it depends which one you want to use Wink So basically you just buy them all Big smile And .. wow.. we can still choose in 2014 Big smile Big smile .. how cool is that for MSX!

@edoz: why not use MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD + 512 kB RAM in slot 1 and a slotexpander in slot 2 with mp3 card, GFX9000 and MoonSound? Then you have a free slot for.... Music Module? Big smile I use this configuration as well, but I have the following cartridges in the slotexpander: OPL4, MP3 player, MIDI-PAC and Music Module. Wink

MP3+Denyonet+G9K+Moonsound, and 2 x 64GB in the other expander (Sunrise, MegaFlash or Padial). Where (else) do you want to go today? Running Naked in a Field of Flowers
