Hi again,

I made a small find that may interest you, Bondy (the OP).

I can use Snatcher (english translation) with MFRSCC+SD's SCC, but I need to disable the RAM expansion in the cart (recovery -> press N). If I don't, the main RAM will be mapped to the CART (since, if there is RAM in more than 1 slot, the one in the slowest slot will be used). But I have 512kb of RAM in my NMS2855, and I'm not sure how much Snatcher requires (I think the translated version requires 256kb, but if you have the original sound cart, it will work with 128kb ... but in that case, you don't need the SCC in the MFRSCC+SD).

So, the disk(s) residing in the same main slot works in this case, despite the readme stating otherwise - or maybe, because these are not real disks but emulated (by Nextor / MFRSCC+SD).

Hi thanks for the info. I the translation running no problems it's just that the SCC+ music does not run.

That's exactly what the limitations are pointed at. The game will run (if you have enough RAM and an MSX2), but if the mentioned requirements for the location of the SCC(+) are not met, the game will run with just the PSG.

There must be something else different in our setups. How much RAM does your MSX2 (NMS8245) have?

Also, it is worth to note that I have installed the Snatcher on HD (or the SD card in this case). This might actually matter since the floppy emulation might use different pages and/or slots of the ROM on the MFRSCC+SD, than just the HD emulation, which may conflict with the way Snatcher uses the SCC(+). I'm guessing here, but you might try to install it (instead of using the floppy images to play).

EDIT: Install here means running install.bat on disk0 ... which means making disk images of disks 1, 2 and 3 and running them with snatcher.com, which is probably similar to rundisk.com or something... check the bat ("type install.bat") to see what it does. Running it "from HD" way might still be different (in terms of what ROM pages are active), compared to running the disks via Nextor/flashing, so it may be worth your while...

EDIT2: From the wiki I gather your NMS8245 has 128kb RAM. I just checked the translated snatchers readme... you need 144kb to run from disk(s) and 192kb to run from HD. So unless you have expanded the RAM on your NMS8245, you can not disable the ram on the MFRSCC+SD.... also the readme isn't specific what will break if you do not have enough RAM - it might run but without SCC(+) sounds

Hi Bondy,
Maybe you could try to use SofaRun / SofaRunIt (using the .DSK disk images). If I remember well the SCC+ sounds should work with this (without extra SCC cart).

Forget it, I did not remember well, the translated version has no SCC sounds without external SCC.
