Yamaha OPL chiptunes thread

MSX has deep roots with Yamaha OPL soundchip synthesis, and arguably some of the best FM chiptunes were wrote for this system.

But there are also other good gems out there. I created this thread for anyone who would like to share cool FM chiptunes you bumped while browsing on the Net.

It doesn't matter which generation of the OPL it is (OPL1, OPL2, OPLL, OPL3, OPL4), the only requisite is that the songs posted here must belong to this family of Yamaha soundchips.

Download the Worp3's Giant MSX Music Pack. In my opinion, it contents the best MSX FM music collection of several MSX music formats like MGS, OPX, BGM, etc (among other things). There are true gems...

I already had all the songs from that collection. And I second the recommendation that there are lots of gems in there. It's a must have for anyone who loves MSX chiptunes, either with PSG, FM, SCC or all of them together.

I just realised that the PC-88 uses OPN instead of OPL. If this disqualifies my suggestions for this thread, I apologize and could delete my post if desired.

Please, don't delete it. It's a good opportunity for many people to discover another good music chip with some stereo effects !

One of the best MSX composers that I discovered some time ago has been the Japanese user mstz80ax. He is very skilled making MSX-MUSIC arrangements (with his Sanyo Wavy70FD) of songs from games and anime/manga mainly, in my opinion the result is superb. It's a shame that normally the Japanese users don't share the original MSX data. The problem is, all his videos were uploaded to the niconico site so we need to be registered. Lucky that the nicoviewer site exists allowing us to watch these videos :D :
