Hi,

the MSX ENGINE discussion triggered me. (no I;m not asking for donations ;-))
I have a load of RAM magazines. Not MSX specific, but in the 80s they had quite a lot of MSX articles (dutch of course). I think I found someone who could scan them via Facebook (I've posted a few 'scans' (photos actually) there).
So that one is probably sorted, however I also have most of the MSX-Info magazines as well. Have they been put online yet? If not, I'll go out and have them scanned too.

FYI, RAM is the 3rd one in the bottom row. MSX Info magazine the 2nd one in the bottom row.

None of the Dutch MSX Info magazines have been preserved, and only a few MSX gids. You can see a list here:
https://www.msx.org/wiki/Magazines#Dutch

My suggestion would be to put them on archive.org. It's free, or make them available as PDF and I'm sure somebody will take care of it for you.

Also, what magazine is that in the bottom left?

Bottom left is MSX Mozaik magazine. Looks like there's not a lot of those online either. I only have a few, but will take up the job to have them scanned as well.

I see there are a lot of scan jobs out there.
In the past I´ve done a lot alternate ways of scanning books. We got the job to scan an old bible but it wasn´t allowed to move it out of the church for whatever reasons.
It´s common today, but most photographers will tell you you need a lot of expansive equipment to do so. That´s of course not true.
In fact you will need a system camera you can attache a circum polar filter, a glass plate (i.e. from a picture frame) and a tripod.
I´m not a pro and I know this MRC is not a photographers website, but if somebody is interessted I will create a step by step guide how to photograph bigger images with a superb quality to get them in a file without distortions and reflections.
Give me feedback if you´re in.

I've done exactly that for a number of pages, but I really don't see myself doing this for 60 full magazines of about 60-80 pages each (ok 30-40 doubles, still more than 1800 shots). :-)
But if all else fails and it's too expensive, I'll do that, eventually

I actually have some MSX Mozaiks from my dad, but here´s the issue. His job was binding magazines, comics and such and yes if I´m correct this also how we got introduced with the MSX hahaha. But these are not single magazines, but books now, well preserved though because of this.

Interesting setup. How do you handle the image processing to get all the pages the same resolution and DPI? Also, better not accidentally, while flipping a page, knock against one of the legs of the tripod as you will probably have to spend some time re-adjusting everything.

For sure, this is not a commfortable way to scan lot of images and of course you have to be carefull with that kind of set up. That´s why I use a remote control, avoiding to touch the camera, hang some weight to the tripod to make it more stable and drink less beer in such situations.
Only in such situations of course.
I just wanted to give inspiration for a alternate way to get large images filed.

Sorry for reviving this, but is there any news?

Besides: I'm looking for RAM magazines that cover MSX topics, except 52, 54, 57, 59, 60, 63, 67, 70, 76, because I already own these. Anyone?
