Can someone quickly list off the benefits of one machine versus the other? I see that the GT has twice the amount of ram and I'm curious how that affects the playability of the games. Is there a huge difference in both machines? Thanks in advance.

The memory of the ST is more than enough to play almost every existing game. The GT has built in MIDI in/out, the ST has a separate audio and video output. Other than that there not much difference between these two.

For me, it's a better feature Smile (compare to MIDI)
Solution : an A1-ST upgraded to 512 or 1024 Wink, and you will have the best MSX Smile

Okay, so I can really buy either model and it's very similar. Thanks so much guys.

I just hope I find one! I'm not having too much luck finding working models of them on the net right now.

The affect to playability is pretty digital. Either the game works or it doesn't.

Here is my feeling about amount of RAM vs. MSX games:

8K: Nothing works, don't bother
16K: Most cartridge games work.
32K: Games made in BASIC work. Maybe 50% of MSX1 games in total.
48K: 90% of MSX1 games work, you can play cracked 16K-32K cartridge games as well.
64K: All MSX1 games work and Japanese MSX2 games. You can load MSX-DOS
128K: European MSX2 games work, you can start up MSX-DOS2
256K: You can play cracked MegaROMs. Generally 98% of all games work.
512K: All of the games and cracks work.
1024K: You can copy whole game disk on one disk change... Maybe you have a special need?... or maybe you are just showing off.
2048K or more: Yup, you are definitely just showing off.

Not all, maybe around 98%. Almost All with 1024K.

Yeah the problem with all of those listings is that it seems like most of the disc drives don't work. Don't know how good I would be attempting repair on my own. Also they're all auctions. Would much rather just a buy it now, less of a headache lol.

Thanks to who posted the summary!
