The JP version has other construction materials which aren't allowed in the EU. And afaik, that's all.

The Japanese 1chipMSX isn't RoHS compliant. And those rules are pretty new, 1st of July 2006 I believe. So I guess considering what materials to use simply wasn't an issue. The first batch was produced in China. It kinda does surprise me those Chinese are still manufacturing with non RoHS materials. You'd assume they would anticipate for some time already.

Anyway, I think it is merely the soldering which isn't RoHS compliant. I checked the FPGA used. No problems with that one. It is RoHS compliant Smile

OCMs seem to be available in Japan... Are the Japanese models much different from the ones that Bazix used to distribute?

In which store(s) in Japan is the OCM msx for sale?

LOL.. Try again Smile
The RoHS story wal already formulated in 2002 and the date of July 2006 was set in 2003, so it was known already for quite some time. If they didn't take that into account with their original BOM (Bill of Materials) they were quite ignorant Wink

The only americans the chinese really like, are the long-dead ones, printed in green on small sheets of paper. For the rest, they coudln't care less...

(yay for generalizations and prejudice Tongue)
