Sorry, first post and all that. My apologies if I miss some behaviour rule.

Do we happen to know how many total Zemmix have been shipped? I'm starting to get the feeling they might be the most common MSX model right now...

Take care

Hi Ferran, and Welcome!

Zemmix Neo (or a derivative) is possibly the MSX model that is easiest to get these days (except basic MSX1 models, of course one important factor here is where you happen to live), but I suspect there still might be way more MSXs made back in the 80s and 90s.

EDIT: I've got a Zemmix Neo (made by Retro8bits ) ... and an NMS8255, Sakhr AX-350II, Toshiba HX-10SF, Sony HB-75P and a SVI-728 (at a summer cabin!). The Zemmix Neo I got mainly because MSX2+ and TurboR cost is a bit prohibitive, and also it can output standard VGA signal, which while still analog, is way easier to deal with than SCART RGB with modern displays! Also, there's a thread asking: "how many MSXes do you have and why" (as if it was weird to own many! :D ). You may want to check that thread to see what people here owned - although the last reply is from 2015 2017...

But... Do we have an idea on how.many have been produced? The guys at 8bits have done several iterations, I believe, for example. Do we have a base of some 2000 machines, all providers counted? 20000? 2 million?

Take care

PS. My other machine has 16k.

Ferran are you talking about the original Daewoo Zemmix or the Zemmix Neo FPGA based MSX clone?

The FPGA series. All differents releases. In fact, it would be great to include the OneChip.

Basically, I'm interested in knowing the approximate "fleet" of MSX machines with SCC/MUSIC and MB range RAM, although maybe that should include several current cartridges. After being unable to follow the MSX world except at a remove for the last 20+ years, I think this would allow me to grok a couple of things.

Thank you.

The Brazilian one shipped around 200 units, I believe. However, some people got many units, so this wouldn't really reflect on the user base. Also many others got in the hand of collectors who don't really use the system. On the other side, cartridges like the Carnivore 2 are getting pretty popular. Smile
