SEGA's Light Phaser is probably the best light gun available for MSX because you don't need to make any modifications to use it and it can be found easily. But there is only one game available for this light gun: Duck Hunt by Karoshi (this version by Karoshi does also support the Gun Stick).
Nintendo's Zapper needs to be adapted, ASCII's Plus X Terminator Laser is hard to find (and expensive) and the Gun Sitck is not hard to find (at least in Spain) but needs four AA batteries to operate (and modifications if you buy the one for ZX Spectrum).
I'm also thinking of buying a lightgun. Are there different versions of the Sega light gun available ? If so, do they all work with MSX ?
No, as far as I know there's only one version. But as it was sold even in the era of the Master System II, maybe its HW was revised sometime.
I own a Light Gun for SEGA Master System.
In fact I still have two.
Will test this game.
Also a curiosity. There is one game in the NET that is supposed to be "FREEWARE" and use the Light Gun.
On a side note. I still need to get more new stuff for Master System. There was some (a lot) or problem in Banks that prevented the acquisitions of more items. By the way, the Light Gun is compatible with some (not all) models of newer Master System stuff. I also have to retrieve my old mails and see if the Mail is working .
Interesting, I didn't know you can use a SMS phaser on a MSX. Does the SMS phaser work with Dungeon Hunter?

So it's a matter of developing games that support these three light guns. Probably Duck Hunt is the best game available for MSX with a light gun. According to NYYRIKKI multiple enemies at the same time on the x-axis is something that Gunstick or ASCII plus-x terminator can't handle
I can buy a lightphaser for 20 euro, is this a fair price ? It is in good shape and comes with the original box. Don't know anything about prices for Sega hardware, that's why I wonder if the price isn't to high.
For sure it can handle enemies in the same x-axis. The problem is that you need one-frame delay for each enemy on the screen. It can be done, but needs some additional coding. For 2 enemies it is doable, for more than 2 it can be a PITA.

Well... 20€ is not a lot of money, if it is in very good condition and boxed I would buy it.
