I've been working since January on a new game for the MSX: Night Knight.

I'm targeting MSX1 with at least 16K of RAM, and the game will fit in a 32K cartridge.

Night Knight is a single screen platformer with a classic arcade feel where you play an old knight that is cursed and the only way he can sleep at night is by taking long walks on his enchanted castle.

The mechanic is simple: step over all the floor tiles. When all the tiles are "on", a key appears and you can get through the door to the next stage. The challenge comes from navigating the screen in the allocated time (60 seconds) avoiding the different enemies.

The game is in testing and I expect to make a release in April, with free download (ROM and CAS) and a Collector's Edition in cartridge by Poly Play (more about this soon).

I've been posting on twitter about the development, for example: https://twitter.com/reidrac/status/1100855922518315008

(I think you don't need account to watch that video)

Anyway, I should have started a thread here some time ago, but I guess is better late than never. I'll try to do it differently next time.

Thanks everybody!

Testing is going well and Poly Play is doing an amazing job with the physical edition; hopefully I'll be able to share more soon!

Great! Any bonus advantages when running on MSX2?

It will run fine (same with NTSC and PAL, both supported). Actually, one of the testers is playing it on a MSX2+, but I didn't include anything MSX 2 specific.

Personally I like the idea of a single way of experiencing the game, and this is a MSX 1 game.
