On August 26th File-Hunter.com celebrates its 20th birthday.
Although the site is a bit older than 20 years, it went online on this domain exactly 20 years ago today. In those days it was known as the M.E.P. (MSX Emulator Page) and featured every known MSX emulator back then and also hosted a lot of games. The site already allowed you to play your favourite MSX games online way back in 1999!
It has also always been the home of the legendary group FONY offering all their demos & games for your pleasure. These days it also serves as a mirror site for various MSX sites and also offers free hosting for your MSX-related websites.
To celebrate its 20th aniversary File-Hunter.com is giving away the fantastic book: "Konami's MSX Legacy, the unoffcial story", written by Wim Dewijngaert. Just go to File-Hunter.com's Facebook page and like it.
On August 30th, Arnaud de Klerk aka The File-Hunter will draw a lucky winner.

One of my favorite sites, especially when it comes to a cool MSX game in between.
Thank you very much for all your efforts, Arnaud!

LOL... I just had to show your artwork to my wife Hamlet! Thanks again!
Besides that, I also want to thank all the people who have made the site become what it is today. A lot of people have contributed in the last 20 years: Sandy Pleyte, Samor, Quickzand, Lars18th, Wilbert Brants, Rupert Hausberger, Jason Vieira, Paulo Peccin, Collin van Ginkel, Stephan Szarafinski, Michiel Spoor, etc... the list goes on and on. (It's starting to look like an old-school demo here...)
And of course thanks to all the visitors, who make it all worthwile!

Wow, I didn't remember that the original MEP already went offline in 2001! I still remember the old MEP... indeed, a download database mostly Tongue

By the way, isn't that 1999-one actually from 2000? Looking at the copyright notice and the releases of these emulators...

The content is from 2000, the lay-out from 1999. Smile
And yes, time flies...

Congrats Arnaud! Smile
I remember getting that M.E.P. dump from you on CD after you pulled it offline, and then playing around with the code myself, and hosting it for a couple of months in a tweaked state as part of MSX-Xpress, before the bandwidth costs forced me to also take it offline. Still, it was a fun learning experience!

Running Naked in a Field of Flowers here's to many more years!

@Fixato,
Do you by any chance still have that CD? An image of that CD would be highly appreciated!

Quibus, IIRC the CD also contained database dumps, which AFAIK aren't part of that mirror.

TFH, I'll have to have a look in the boxes in my storage room, but there is unfortunately a distinct possibility that they ended up in the city dump along with other CDs due to my move to Norway.
(Aside from that, chances are the disc wouldn't be readable due to age.)

Anyway, when I find some time, I'll dive in my archive to see what I can find!

Yes, I remember!
How much hours of free work did you have to do for that?
Indeed.... Those were the days. Getting kicked from my hosting company which offered unlimited data, but my traffic was so high they blocked me anyway.

I love this site! Bringing back MSX memories for many in such an easy and open way is awesome. Many kudos.
Never got it why it is called file-hunter though, except it being a cool name.

It was a month I believe, I selectively forgot about it Smile

I've tried making all the sites work, both with a combination of locally backupped pages and the use of archive.org. Dead internal links have been removed. I couldn't get the games database working anymore or the old "play online" section,

If anyone still has the MEPonCD, which includes the website files as well, around somewhere, please feel free to supply me with a copy Smile

Thanks! It has been received in good order, and I completed it with the files I had.
I've added it to https://download.file-hunter.com in the Archive section.

Thanks for your help, Bastiaan!

Hi, Arnaud. It's me, Taylor, the MSX2SMS and CV2MSX conversion person. I've seen my zip of conversions on your archive, "ColecoVision to MSX Conversions.zip." You are really the hunter for files, keep up the good work and thanks, man! :-)
