After a few months of development, here is my Outrun style road demo for MSX2 (screen 5).

It's a semi 3D engine, calculating the road on the fly.
Framerate is low (about 10 fps), but the illusion of speed does not need high fps, IMHO.

A few bugs are still present (you can see them in the video), I'm working on them.
In the video, the movement of the road is done by controlling the camera position with cursor keys.

Enjoy
Smile

PS : the fluidity of the demo on an MSX is better than in the YT video

Cool demo Smile
Does it take all CPU to render that or something left?

It uses all the CPU so far.
But the calculation and the rendering are by far the most CPU intensive part this type of game needs.

I'm working on both.
But curves won't probably be a difficulty, as the 3D engine already provides basic support for them.

No it takes about 5 frames to build up the road.

Really amazing work!, the road movement feels smooth. Guess that there's still some optimizations left to squeeze some more fps from the engine Smile

It's a funky mix of HMMV, OTIR, Bresenham and large tables Wink
