Yeah, cheers, I figured the JP titles would come in handy? Wink Note that my IC listening experience is lacking, never gave it much attention. Got it on again now, and was e.g. pleasantly surprised by the Home (Fukuda) tune (hi Meits). Thought is was funny to leave out Theme A Wink ファイナルバトル Final Battle (which you, Meits, call The One Who Rules the Heavens (?)) got my attention. (That one's attributed to Fukuda as well btw.)

The Gazzel list is missing perhaps 1 or 2 tunes, but it's a big list already Smile

Will it be a digital album (not limited by runtime length) btw?

Of course you've got to tell us more about the plan, how you got in contact etc.
Since I mentioned quite some (great) Fukuda tunes, perhaps an idea to check if he's interested too? Wink

Quote:

He wasn't aware that his music was regarded with such love over here.

To give him a (further) idea, he could e.g. check the comment sections of John Hassink's YT uploads Wink (I do think Xak II is underrated (in comparison).)

I would also be interested in composer breakdowns Smile (I might have listed a couple of Ryuji Sasai tracks as well?)

I agree on Xak II. I love the Xak 1 tracks, they really are something special, but Xak II is a darker track, and I really dig it. I agree it is underrated by some. it is really good in my opinion.

Illusion City is probably one of the best scores ever on the MSX.

Check this and you might be convinced. Smile

Yes, I think you're right on Xak II there Smile
Thanks for the pointer, def. not a bad track, I've been spoiled w/ many FM treats in the meantime though Wink
I do like 幻影城 / Phantom Castle as well, and you can def. add Final Battle (the tune Meits calls 'The One Who Rules the Heavens' - still wondering where that title comes from? The various OST albums call the tune ファイナルバトル Fainaru batoru / 'Final Battle'.)

In now read this:

Quote:

The album will be released on iTunes.

Only iTunes? Is there any DRM involved, what about lossless?
I believe you used to have iTunes (the application) installed to be able to purchase & download, how is that these days (as I read they're abandoning, or have abandoned already perhaps, the iTunes software)?

Anyway, I'm not a fan of that platform (and probably not purchasing if it's released only there). Have you considered alternatives?

ps. if there are any native JP folks reading this, how would you translate these titles:

魔天教

魔 Ma Devil
天 Ten Heaven
教 Kyō Teaching

Google says: 'Demon Religion'. Could be accurate/fair enough?

魔天王バトル

魔 Ma Devil (or: Demon)
天 Ten Heaven (or: Sky)
王 Ō King (or: Ruler)
バトル batoru Battle

Google says: 'Demon Battle', definitely too simplistic.

Would it be a nice thing to let him remake some songs that were not released on MSX for some reason, like songs from the Xak 3 Eternal Recurrence (got canceled) or Elm Knight (which was not considered to be made for MSX because of all of the redrawing and the tonds of gfx in it)? There are some good songs in there but in some cases I miss the MSX flavor.

While remaking them myself I was searching for the English title. I must've used Youtube and ran into this title. I think I better change it in my Youtube reply then.

Funny I was just working on a new Xak album myself. I knew Nitta-San kept active in music all those years under the name 'Tangerine Nitta' but I was never succesful in tracking him down and my Japanese is not fluent enough. Interesting to see what comes of this Smile

Meits: I don't know, perhaps it could be the true title?

I don't know the story of the game (I hope we'll see a finished English translation someday Smile) but when looking at e.g. 魔天王バトル above, it seems your title could actually be correct/appropriate? (It's def. not a bad title, does fit the song I think Smile) (So I agree, it's pretty awesome Wink)

If it's more known by title A it would cause confusion to use title B. I got with the Final Battle approach Wink

By the way, you say Micro Cabin is on board but do you know if there is anyone still working at Micro Cabin group that was active back then? I am good friends with the guy who consolidated the purchase of Micro Cabin by Marvelous Entertainment but they sold it off to Fields before I met him.

@Meits: when you search for it, you'll only find your Moonsound cover (so what happened to your source..?)

Liking the cover btw! Only I find the drum/bass track a bit (too) heavy (noticed that before with some of your covers) (small critique Wink)
