@Grauw I own a Japanese HX-21 and always consider this full channel panning (not a real stereo).
But what is real stereo then? Configurable panning per channel (for noise you can)? Non-hard panning? Stereo is stereo if you ask me. How much convenience and limitations the implementation gives is separate...
One problem is that the distribution of the PSG channels over the stereo channels is not consistent from MSX to MSX (if my information is correct). Pioneer has channel 2 on left and channel 3 on right, and Toshiba has this reversed. No standardization there....
Luckily it's only left and right that are swapped so you can easily reverse the cables. It won't even matter if the side is not connected to visuals. The Amstrad CPC also has stereo PSG, so you may find more music composed for stereo on that platform, but there the channel A is not center (it's channel B)

Pioneer did that due to their audio cassette encoded on LD discs to load the game.
You just want another PSG to play Dot Attack? Use the MegaFlashROM SCC+ extension, it has an extra PSG. Also, try using the machine XML I made. In Dot Attack, if you use Sound Mode C you'll have sound effects and stereo music. If you use Sound Mode B music will be mono but SFX will be stereo.

Are you sure? Of course it will boot and the machine will works, but its the sound its the problem.
There is NO dual PSG enable there. I tested with dotatk game and I can confirm it DOESN'T works.
Ok. I have also tried Dot Attack and I can't hear the sound in secondary PSG either, however I was able to hear the second PSG with vgmplay and Alcon arcade melody 02.
