I actually also had a problem with Pennant Race 2, it caused my MSX to reset when the Team Select was about to show. At that point, the game tries to look on the current drive whether there are team files to show. And there it crashes. By using the SofaRun setting to disable the disk driver, I could play the game (although it makes the disk feature impossible to use).

Hello all, one question: any way to simulate 2 roms in the different slots? For example for Konami games that activates extra features when you insert another cartridge in the 2nd slot.

Thanks!

I have a question.
Usage case: I use Sofarun to launch .cas.
I use MFR+SCC to boot up to MultiMente. I then select sr.com to launch Sofarun.
I then use Sofarun to select a .cas file.
The game runs and everything is good. I shut down the machine.

Next time I boot up my system and try the same, I get an error.
Sofarun has self-edited it's SR.SST (I forgot the exact extension, but the settings file which I set to b:settings in the SR.INI-file.)
Sofarun has edited the SR.SST file to include a path to the .cas game, which I launced earlier. So when it boots up, it defaults to the directory I was formerly in, example: b:cas/m/mminer.cas.
And I can't leave that directory or go to parent.
I tried setting the SR.SST file to "read-only", but Sofarun won't accept that.

Is there a better way to launch .cas files from Sofarun?
Is there a way to make SR boot to default settings on each run, and clear the SR.SST file?
Am I using Sofarun wrong?
(I prefer to use MFR+SCC, Nextor and Multimente, and I do not wish to change my cartridge to always boot to Sofarun.)
Should I use a command-line tool to launch .cas instead? If so, which command-line tool is best launching .cas on my setup in 2022?

But why wouldn't it be able to go to that same directory?

Anyway, there is a command line option on SR to clear the remembered folder name (IIRC, it's /I, but please check the documentation).

Ah,
will try:
" /S: Skip the display of the title screen.

/I: Ignore last launched game, and start SofaRun from current
directory."

I've got a question regarding Sofarun being used with Carnivore 2.
Sofarun comes with special empty .ROM files of 1/2/4 & 8MByte to flash to the Carnivore 2, so you can load games with sofarun into the flash of the Carnivore 2. When flasing the empty .ROM file using sr.exe, you already have to select the mapper. If you flash it with for example ASCI16, can you then still load for example a Konami5 into that flash using sofarun?

Hey guys, a question, i have a Sony HitBit F700P (No hardware modifications) and an "MSX Mapper 512kb v2" on which I have installed "SofaRun v8" with many games on ROM and DSK I'm having trouble with a lot of the games, I made a small list below the number of games with issues is much bigger this is just an example.

I have the original cartridges of these games and they run just fine.

Antarctic Adventure > No problem
Baseball, Pennant Race 2 > No problem
Billiard > No problem
Contra > No problem
Firebird > No problem
King Kong 2 > No problem
Kings Valley 2 > No problem
Space Manbow > Runs laggy
Parodius > No problem
Usas > Runs but lags once in a while
Vampire Killer > No problem

I do not have the original cartridges of these games.

A1 Spirit > Unsupported ROM
F1 Spirit 3D > Graphical corruption
Metal Gear 2 > Seems to load fine in SR untill it stops at a bluescreen
Nemesis 3 > Runs but lags once in a while
SD Snatcher > No problem
Quarth > No problem

I've tried making changes to the settings of the games that don't work right but i can't seem to make it any better then the default settings for these games.

Also all these and more games work fine on my Anbernic 353 so there should be nothing wrong with the ROM or DSK files.

I have also tried with and without my Snatcher Sound Cartridge, but except for the sound quality on some games that seems to make no difference.

Don't know if it helps but this is whats inside the Autoexec.bat

path %1\dos;%1\util
set temp %1\temp
set help %1\help
alias .bas basic
alias .rom srom
alias .dsk sri
set prompt on
set date=dd-mm-yy
set expert on
rem Calculo rapido do espaco livre
ralloc %1 on
set zalloc=on
mode 80

Do you guys have any idea's..?

Seems to look fully as you can expect with your hardware.
When you only run with memory mapper, the ROM mappers are emulated by means of patching. This sometimes results in performance loss.
F1 Spirit 3D is an MSX2+ game, so it won't run on your MSX2.
Metal Gear 2 is a 512kB ROM. Usually using memory mapper, you require more RAM than the ROM size. Probably SR only uses a single memory mapper (I guess the 512kB one, but perhaps it tells you which?).

What do you mean with "Unsupported ROM"?

Oke, I didn't know F1 Spirit 3D was an MSX2+ game so that makes sense I haven't got one of those.

I have enabled the 512kb extra memory, should that not be enough for MG2.?

The "unsupported ROM" message is what SofaRun shows me after I press start on that Rom.

Hello, bug report, Sofarun is not able to load one entry of the MSXDev23, this one: https://msx.org/news/challenges/en/msxdev23-03-uchu-yohei

Tested with MFR (opfxsd) and it works fine.
