No. MSX2 needs MSX2 hardware.

SO what exactly does the Carnivore 2 offer? I know it gives you 512K and running from SD cards. Am I missing something?

Carnivore2 gives you much more than that.

About SD Mapper, since it is in either mapper RAM mode or in MegaRAM (ROM emulation) mode, and mapper RAM is required to run Nextor on MSX computers with less than 128K memory, you can not use Nextor to load games into MegaRAM on such computers, which is a limiting factor.

@BananaPie: Wouldn't it be better for you to get an SX1Mini+ (when it's back in stock) instead ?

For the cost of a Carnivore2 or similar cart you get a complete MSX computer with integrated SCC, FM and ROM emulation (basically what those 100+€ carts offer), with the added bonus of MSX2+ compatibility.

So I can run MSX2+ games since it gives me compatibility?

Yes, you can play MSX2+ games on the SX1 Mini. The SX1 Mini is an MSX2+ compatible computer. It has the same sound chips as a Carnivore 2 cartridge (SCC+, FM and PSG). better get that for 100,- than a flash/SD cartridge for your MSX1 - which will remain MSX1 - for more.

Thanks, it's out of stock now, but I'll keep checking it.

If I'd want one and it's out of stock, I'd send them an e-mail to find out what their plans are. Maybe they're (almost) in stock.

I agree with this sugestion. Since you have only MSX1, the best option is to jump directly to FPGA based solutions that already integrates MSX2+ full featured with SD card. Be aware of the stock because it's a real sucess, so they go out of stock quite fast!
