How does TriloTracker compare?

It's probably not a fair comparison, as like you mentioned, Moonblaster is quite old (though amazing for the time), and relatively very limited in its functionality and possibilities.
Let's just say that TriloTracker gives me (being a bit of an MSX composer myself) full control over the soundchips, exactly how I want it.
It would be remarkable if I didn't feel that way, as I co-designed the thing. Wink

An in-depth comparison would yield an unnecessarily long list. The Effects list might be relevant to have a look at.
Apart from the much larger amount of effects and commands, one of the most important differences is that, where Moonblaster offers only 1 command or statement per step, TriloTracker has a maximum of 6.
Also, having full control over the PSG is quite a factor for me.

There's quite some activity/development going on ATM: https://github.com/cornelisser?tab=repositories

@John: any news perhaps on the Java emulated version? :)

Not really, I'm afraid. At the moment we're concentrating on getting the MSX versions done.

The Java emulation is abandoned. I just wasn't able to make it work.

There has been a lot work done lately. The TTSCC version is working is almost done. The new replayer is actively tested and the TTSMS will hopefully be tested soon.

In the new release some features have been updated. I have taken a close look at other trackers like famitracker to improve. But I have also added some new experimental stuff (LoFi samples on SCC) just to keep things fun.

The last I found, seems to be TriloTracker. Looks great, but sadly, the last release was 5 years ago :-( But maybe this tool is the right tool afterall?

I will make a public beta available this weekend. Documentation is not yet fully complete but the most important things (effects) are documented.

Sweeeet! Will test Smile

Ref this on the project-page:

Later, during development, an FM version of the tracker was created. This version is only a hacked version of the origininal tracker for PSG and SCC.

How's the current FM-status compared to the two other first-class citizens, PSG and SCC?

There are 3 versions of TT tracker: TTSCC (PSG+SCC), TTFM (PSG+OPLL), TTSMS (Sega Master System PSG + OPLL).
They all are somewhat finished. TTSCC is the most stable. The others still need extensive testing by users.

To be honest i havent used TTFM in years. Was there some test program started or do you just mean people in general who are making music with it?

Still extremely interested in the tt replayer. When that comes out it will be the valhalla for me. I can use trilotracker and enjoy it as well. A replayer for its files will help me so good in future projects Smile
