Dynamic Publisher is a Desktop Publishing application for MSX2, available in several languages.

And, indeed, DP is not a plain text editor. But I think you won't find a plain text editor which supports footnotes on any platform, be it MSX, PC or Mac...
The fact that you want to have footnotes indicates that you apparently do not want to edit plain text, but some kind of formatted text. For that, DP may be the application (note that I explicitely do not write "editor" here Tongue) you're looking for.

Hmm, and what about Home Office 2?
I believe I used to use that for school documents, and have a faint memory of using footnotes in it.

of course, i´m not looking for a plain text editor. instead of "text editor", i should write "word processor", i'm sorry. the thing is, i´ve managed to get a dsk image of a spanish version of DP, yet unfortunetally, in my emulators, it freazes when i try to start the word processor itself, not the tool for managing the graphics to be published (so i was confused abou its nature at first...).

anyway, thank you very much for another tip, FiXato!

Try to eject the disk image just second before the text editor freazes (while uncompressing fonts)

It may actually do the trick... Wink

... put the disk back when word prosessor has loaded... works at least in English version...

unfortunetaly, it doesn´t seem to work for me.
perhaps, i should add, when i press "1" to load the editor, the screen turns blue and nothing happens. when i eject the disk (no matter how loang thereafter, the screen turns yellow). Question

Maybe this article (in Dutch though) could help: MILC Topic: DP op Turbo-R
Basically it explains why DP (originally) doesn't work on Turbo-R (are you perhaps running your emulator with a Turbo-R machine selected?).

It suggests adding the following to the Autoexec.bas file:

1 DATA 3E,81,CD,80,01,C9
2 AD=&HD000:FORI=0TO5:READA$:POKEAD+I,VAL("&H"+A$):NEXT
3 DEFUSR=AD:A=USR(0)
4 POKE &HFCC1,0

(and that MSX2+ users should only run the POKE, since it would be of not much use to call R800 on a non-Turbo-R machine.)

Another possibly relevant post I found was a post on the MSX Mailinglist about how to be able to run it from harddisk.

Just a couple of suggestions...

and else have a look at Generation MSX for a list of Wordprocessors for the MSX, or a list of Office applications for MSX
