SLotman, I've 2 terms for you:
- general acceptance (a mindset problem)
- content (a practical problem)

btw, don't get me wrong: the VSU is of course spectacular. But so is the G9k (the single chip cart from sunrise), so far: zippo activity. In the past years people were creating MSX1 games, maybe some people will join the PassionMSX contest, moving attention to MSX2 again. The better a videocard is, the more talented the gfx designers must be to get the best out of it (or else it's no point offering thousands of colors and various layers). Most of us are in our 30's atm, with various responsibilities. I estimate that an MSX1 game is just doable for those people. I dunno, I wish the VSU people all the luck tho.. Tongue

I have 3 letters for you guys: VSU :)

Edit: video-links posted... tell me what you think about it ;)

If the port based vram access is *slow* on a normal msx with 128 or 512 kb of vram just imagine with a lot of vram as with vdu. :P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:PoOoOoOoO

WOW!! How much will cost this card? Anyway, I guess it will be difficult to have good specific software for it, but it will enable to do some spectacular MSX-Basic things...

That Mickey Mouse thing is AWESOME. Give us more, SLotman!

One question: would this also work on a plain GFX9000? I'm kind of curious, as the GFX9000 can do multiple layers quite easily as well.

Oazem will still iron out some problems, specially some related to turbo-R and the 9958s... The estimate cost (should be lower than that) is around $400 - and Oazem will try to sell it by credit card (dividing the payment into smaller ones). It will probably be ready for sale next year or so.

That Mickey demo cannot be done with a single gfx9000... it has to be done with VSU Wink

As for software, anything for GFX9000 and OPL4 will be directly compatible, so it will work on VSU. You can even play normal MSX games, and set a new background (or foreground, or both) for them!

As for content... as soon as I get my hands on one, I will develop something - and there are other brazilian coders (Daniel Caetano, for example) who will develop stuff also. So it will have games for it, don´t worry Smile

the system need a simple and cheap yet powerfull videochip like the game boy advance has.

i just can´t afford (and don´t have the money) to pay for a gfx card so expensive as the xbox360.

msx back in time is simple, somewhat a little but yet powerfull machine.

*simple, cheap and powerfull* sure will make the day!
