Hey there, I've become interested in an MSX and I'd like to know what's the cheapest system to get. For the record, I'm mainly interested in MSX1 carts and I'm not interested at all in a floppy drive (too expensive and not worth my time IMO). Surely I could find an MSX1 system for dirt cheap, right?

If you are from USA you should buy a Japanese MSX (NTSC output/110V). MSX computers from Europe use PAL/220V.
Take a look at these two maps!:

Yep, use eBay and buy the cheapest MSX1 system with NTSC/110V you can find. That would be either Japanese or a Yamaha CX5M.

How much do CX5Ms usually go for? I don't see them up for auction very often, and the one that's up now seems incredibly overpriced.

And just to let everyone know, I'm from the US, so yes I'll be going with a Japanese system.

Dunno, I never buy one from the US. But on MSX fairs in the Netherlands, a common MSX1 (like a Philips VG8020) would go for about 5 euros or less. Not sure what that says about Japanese MSX1 machines in the US via eBay, though Tongue
