I personally think I need to ask Ryjuzo for apologies because I believed it was vaporware. It seems to me though that he got himself into what's called Development hell. This is when potentially awesome software becomes vaporware zombies that eat programmers for breakfast: They tried to build too much stuff at the same time and probably lost control of it.

After raising so much expectation, things end up resulting in a Tucker effect.

Maybe some things can be learn from all this experience:

- If you are a developer/creator, never disclosure about your project while it's yet on the specification stage. It's much more prudent to disclose about it on the final beta/testing stages
- If you are "the audience", try not to be acid. Control your expectations and avoid at all costs to be the tomato-thrower stereotype. If you don't have anything good to say, don't say it. The community already lost Adriano and a lot of other good people because of trolling behavior. Whoever haves an urge to troll, go troll on the PC/Windows development forums available everywhere on the Net: they have plenty of paid programmers and can afford to loose some.

Sorry, those were just my 2 cents... I don't think the world will change because of this. :)

I agree ... If those tools are for real, then some apologies are expected from the ones who flamed him.
Indeed, he did hype things a lot, and often brag about his abilities to develop ... But I guess it was his way of doing things and living his hobby.

Ryjuzo has a big mouth, he should stuff it and concentrate on his programming skills (which he clearly has).

"So you wanna be a MSX coder" (I feel a tv show format coming up), proof it or be eaten.

Probably that that level 2 music on your youtube channel is just a place holder and not something really intended to be used in the game.

This is how the original sounds:

BTW the problems around Ryjuzo are just a matter of being really cocky and trying to tell everyone that he's the best thing invented since backed bread. It has nothing to do with the MSX community. I am working on a game for 7 years now. I never got any remarks about vaporware and stuff. It's just all about the way you should (not) communicate on the online world.

Just read all stuff you can found around here and I think you can clearly see where things went wrong. Which is sad though.

nice to know where it comes from.

But I must say he did do a pretty good job converting it to SCC.

well, I dont think he's ever planning on returning to scene. otherwise he would not have sold me the stuff.

so let him "rest in peace" Tongue

even tough he had a cocky personality. He did do an excellent job with these tools.
Just have to figure out how it's put together and document it all.
He did not provide any documentation at all. not even in the source-code.

It has nothing to do with the MSX community
I certainly hope so. Ofcourse Manuel did not really set a good example.

Sorry, marlon-B, but lots of talk and no show, makes me skeptic (that's experience). I hope you'll show the world that was not right!

Deadlines aren't important. Just show some progress here and then. Movies, or demos on fairs do a lot of good. People see your achievements and can see what you're doing in real life. And, they can give you comments or suggestions or other feedback to make your stuff even better. Many other teams do that and they get a lot of respect.

RyJuZo didn't (except once in Bussum, but there wasn't too much to show there). You didn't. Hence my remarks. For all we know, it's one big hoax. How can we tell? Sure, we do hope it's not a hoax, but at some point people with 'big mouths' start to loose credibility if there's "no show" all the time...

Together with the others who have reacted, I hope it's clear now how this happens. You know how to counter-attack this now as well! Smile

PS: in the case of RyJuZo: I have the strong feeling he rather programmed on his (awesome) tools than on the actual MSX software. If he would have developed the tools out in the open, he would have lost a lot less time and the community would have been in the loop. Would have made a huge difference, I think. Plus, his tool effort would have been useful to a lot more people. Until now, all of it was in vain.

I hope you can do something useful with it, like e.g. open-sourcing it and releasing it to the public. Who knows what great stuff will be made with them or how it will be developed further to even better tools!

As an openMSX developer, I have always been very curious what he did with openMSX remote control functionality...

Last remark: I'm sad to hear that RyJuZo stopped working on his MSX projects. I hope he'll continue at some point when he has more time for it and sees what's going on with his legacy Smile

@Manuel:

good to know you're part of the openmsx-team. I have a question for you.
Can you tell me what the possible reason could be that ryjuzo's software only works with older
versions of openmsx?

I tried it with the latest release and got connection errors.
